Volunteers with the Syracuse Urbanism Collective recently installed their second Community Streets project of 2026 in Downtown Syracuse. The project includes a refresh of painted curb extensions at the S Salina St / Jefferson St intersection as well as new painted curb extensions at the Montgomery St / Jefferson St intersection. Every time we post about school bus safety, the comments try to make it complicated.

It’s not.

When a school bus’s red lights are flashing, you stop.
Two lanes? Stop.
Four lanes? Stop.
Coming from the opposite direction? Stop.

You don’t squeeze past. You don’t look for a loophole. The comments section may debate it. The law doesn’t. Stop for the bus. Keep kids safe. It really is that simple. 🛑🚌
