It takes 22 passes for a 120 foot sprayer to get across a quarter of ground, not counting head land and turning around. If it knocks down one foot of wheat per tire, that’s 5280 square feet per pass. Multiply that by 22 passes, divided by 43,560, you get 2.67 acres knocked down. Then, 2.67 acres times 50 bushel wheat times $6 per bushel. It would cost $5.00 per acre to drive across your wheat with a ground rig. Not counting soil compaction, fuel, hours on equipment and time the farmer could be doing something else. It's even more expensive on circles! Moral of the story? You could save time and money by letting one of our professional pilots take care of it for you! Saving time is a huge benefit, especially with most people planting corn, or having a list full of things that they could be using their time for. Not only is using a plane much faster, it’s also cool to watch!😉
