Cemetery Closes at Dusk. A Truly Perpetual Care Cemetery AFTER WORLD WAR II, THE GEORGE T. REICHNER FAMILY FELT THAT THERE WAS A NEED FOR A MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY IN THE AREA. ON SEPTEMBER 7, 1946 A LARGE ADVERTISEMENT APPEARED IN THE TAMAQUA EVENING COURIER ANNOUNCING THE ESTABLISHENT OF A NON-SECTARIAN BURIAL ESTATE AND MAUSOLEUM IN THE VILLAGE OF HOMETOWN. THE CEMETERY WAS CALLED SKY-VIEW MEMORIAL PARK....

THE PARK IS MAINTAINED BY OUR OWN FULL-TIME STAFF. THE USE OF OUR OWN EQUIPMENT ENABLES US TO HAVE A TRULY PERPETUAL CARE CEMETERY. OVER THE YEARS, MUCH OF THE CONTINUED SUCCESS OF OUR CEMETERY IS DUE TO A GROUP OF LOYAL EMPLOYEES. THERE ARE OVER 3000 VETERANS FROM THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR THROUGH THE PERSIAN GULF WAR INTERRED AT SKY-VIEW MEMORIAL PARK. EVERY MEMORIAL DAY,THE CEMETERY STAFF AND THE QUAKAKE AMERICAN LEGION HONOR THE VETERANS WITH A DIGNIFIED SERVICE. THIS TRADITION HAS TAKEN PLACE FOR OVER 60 YEARS. THE CEMETERY IS AT ITS MOST BEAUTIFUL WITH THE MANY FLOWERS AND FLAGS THAT ADORN THE GRAVES. IN OCTOBER 2008, OUR PET CEMETERY WAS OPENED FOR YOUR FAITHFUL FRIENDS. THIS SECTION IS FOR TRADITIONAL AND CREMATION BURIAL OF YOUR LOVING COMPANION. A COLUMBARIUM WAS ERECTED FOR THE CREMATION ENTOMBMENT OF YOUR PET. IN 2011, SKYVIEW MEMORIAL PARK BEGAN TO OFFER FLORAL BOUQUETS AND WINTER WREATHS FOR FAMILIES TO PURCHASE TO HONOR THEIR LOVED ONE'S GRAVESITES. IN 2013 'PARADISE' WAS OPENED AS A SCATTER GARDEN FOR HUMAN CREMAINS. SKY-VIEW MEMORIAL PARK OFFERS AN INTEREST FREE MONTHLY PAYMENT PLAN ON THE PURCHASE OF YOUR BRONZE MEMORIAL AND/OR THE INTERMENT PLAN. THE BRONZE MEMORIAL DOES NOT NEED TO BE INSTALLED UNTIL THE TIME OF NEED. PRE-PLANNING IS A WISE DECISION FOR THE FUTURE. A MESSAGE FROM SKY VIEW MEMORIAL PARK 🍂
As we welcome the beauty of fall here in northeastern Pennsylvania, we would like to take a moment to share a friendly reminder with our families and visitors.
At Sky View Memorial Park, we take great pride in maintaining our grounds and honoring the loved ones entrusted to our care. Our maintenance crew works diligently, cutting grass and trimming weeds around memorial markers on an almost daily basis, as weather and ground conditions permit. Following these services, our crew uses blowers to clear grass clippings and debris from around the markers.
However, with the changing seasons, falling leaves, and the natural conditions of our location, there may occasionally be grass clippings or leaves remaining on a memorial marker. Although we make every effort to keep the grounds as clean and beautiful as possible, we cannot always prevent these natural occurrences.
What does perpetual care mean at Sky View Memorial Park?
Perpetual care means our commitment to the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the cemetery grounds for generations to come. This includes caring for the lawns, maintaining the landscaping, tending to the grounds, and preserving the peaceful and dignified setting that your loved ones deserve. At Sky View Memorial Park, perpetual care is included in our interment pricing, reflecting our long-term commitment to the families we serve.
Caring for more than 126 acres of sacred ground is an ongoing responsibility that continues through every season. While Mother Nature is beyond our control, our dedication to maintaining a beautiful, respectful, and peaceful resting place never changes.
We understand how deeply personal these memorials are to each family. Please know that our team takes its responsibility seriously and works hard every day to care for the grounds with dignity, compassion, and respect. Please remember that grass clippings and fallen leaves do not constitute desecration of a grave. They are a natural part of seasonal grounds maintenance.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust in Sky View Memorial Park. It is our privilege to care for this special place and the loved ones who rest here. ❤️
With care and respect,Sky View Memorial Park

🇺🇸 A REMINDER TO OUR COMMUNITY 🇺🇸

HONORABLE RETIREMENT OF THE COLORS

Griffiths Family Funeral Homes and Skyview Memorial Park warmly invite our community to join us for a special ceremony honoring our American flag and the men and women who have proudly served our country.

📅 Saturday, November 7, 2026
🕙 10:00 AM
📍 Skyview Memorial Park – Hometown, PA

This meaningful ceremony will include the respectful retirement of worn American flags and the playing of Taps by members of the Lansford American Legion.

🇺🇸 DO YOU HAVE AN OLD, WORN, OR TATTERED AMERICAN FLAG?

Rather than throwing it away, please consider allowing us to give it the respectful retirement it deserves.

The American flag is a symbol of our nation’s history, freedom, and sacrifice. When a flag becomes worn or unserviceable, it should be retired with dignity and respect.

We encourage everyone to check their homes, garages, and businesses for flags that are ready to be retired.

🇺🇸 FLAG DROP-OFF LOCATIONS:

E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home – Tamaqua
Robert S. Nester Funeral Home – New Ringgold
Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home – Weatherly
Basile’s – Hometown
Hiles Bros. – Summit Hill
Skyview Memorial Park – Hometown
Drop off boxes are located outside of each location.

You do not need to bring a flag to attend! We welcome everyone to join us as we honor our nation’s colors and those who have served beneath them.

❤️🤍💙 Every American flag deserves a dignified farewell. Help us ensure that no flag is simply discarded when it can be retired with honor.

🌿 FROM DUST TO DUST — A THOUGHT ON CREMATION 🕊️
Have you ever stopped to think about what it truly means when we say, “from dust you came, and to dust you shall return”?
We are made from the very elements of the earth. In time, our physical bodies return to those elements…whether through traditional burial or cremation.
Cremation does not change the life that was lived, the love that was shared, or the memories that remain. It is simply another way of returning our earthly remains to the natural world from which we were created.
“For dust you are and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:19
At Sky View Memorial Park, we believe there is no single way to honor a life. What matters is that every person is remembered with dignity, respect, love, and care. 🤍
Our bodies return to the earth. Our love and memories live on.

🇺🇸 Every veteran has a story. Every veteran deserves to be remembered. 🇺🇸
Help us ensure your loved one receives the honor they so proudly earned. By sponsoring a wreath, you are helping us place a beautiful remembrance at their resting place and remind their families that their sacrifice has not been forgotten.
Because a veteran’s service should never be forgotten…and neither should they. ❤️🇺🇸

Happy Fourth of July from Sky View Memorial Park. 🇺🇸
Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, remembering that every liberty has been carried forward by the courage and sacrifice of those who came before us.
As fireworks light the evening sky, may we also pause to reflect on the lives that continue to shine in our memories. Here at Sky View Memorial Park, we are especially honored to care for the resting place of so many veterans whose service helped preserve the freedoms we celebrate today.
May this Independence Day be filled with gratitude, remembrance, and hope.
Wishing you and your family a safe and meaningful Fourth of July.
