We continue to see an uptick in fuel prices across the country with regions like California nearing $7/gallon as the entire US trends towards $6/gallon. We wanted to reshare some tips from veteran drivers on how to better manage your fuel.
a. Manage your speed -- slowing down helps maximize your miles per gallon which can save you hundreds a week at current gas costs.
b. Be smart when idling -- idling can burn ~1 gallon per hour which can add up to $2-300 in costs per week
c. Find where to save when managing your business -- whether it's maintenance, oil changes, filing for IFTA taxes or others; as the going gets tough, you can likely find hundreds of dollars by doing things on your own.
02 Market Insights on Rates
We continue to see a steadiness in rates since April this year despite soaring costs.
Here's why:
a. falling demand as inflation continue to reach new heights (+8.6% YoY) driving consumers to buy less as real wages decline
b. elevated number of drivers in the market driven by last year's demand surge
We are, however, beginning to see signs of life as summer seasonality brings an upswing in demand helping steady rates.
