One of the things our pilgrims appreciate most on our guided Camino tours is having the support van nearby along the route.

Whether someone needs a short break, extra water, help with sore feet, or simply peace of mind knowing support is available, the van is there to help make the journey more comfortable and enjoyable.

The Camino can still be challenging, but having that extra layer of support allows many travelers — especially first-time pilgrims — to walk with greater confidence and less stress.

Our goal is to help you experience the Camino at your own pace while knowing you are never alone on the journey. ❤️

One thing many pilgrims are surprised by on the Camino de Santiago? You don’t have to carry your luggage every day. 🎒➡️🧳

Most Camino routes offer daily luggage transfer services, allowing you to walk with just a light daypack while your suitcase is moved ahead to your next hotel.

For many travelers, this makes the Camino much more enjoyable and accessible. You can focus on the experience, the scenery, and the journey itself instead of worrying about a heavy backpack.

The Camino is challenging enough without carrying more than you need. ❤️

Would you choose to carry your pack or use luggage transfer services?

One of the most special moments on the Camino de Santiago is arriving in Santiago and receiving your Compostela certificate. 🎉

After days (or weeks) of walking through Spain, the certificate is a meaningful reminder of everything you accomplished along the way — the early mornings, beautiful landscapes, new friendships, and personal challenges overcome.

To receive a Compostela, pilgrims need to walk at least 100 continuous km of the Camino in Spain (or cycle the final 200 km), collect stamps in their credential along the route, and end in Santiago.

Have you dreamed of earning your Compostela one day? ❤️

Laundry facilities on the Camino are much easier than many travelers expect!

Throughout the Camino, you’ll find laundromats in most larger towns and cities, and many hotels and albergues also offer access to washing machines and dryers.

One thing many pilgrims are pleasantly surprised by: most laundromat machines already include detergent automatically, so there’s usually no need to pack or buy laundry soap separately.

A clean shirt, fresh socks, and dry hiking clothes can feel like absolute luxury after a long walking day.

A heads up for anyone traveling in Portugal in the coming days: a rail strike is scheduled to begin on June 3rd and may affect train service throughout the country.

At Hike The Way, we’ve already been reaching out directly to travelers whose itineraries could be impacted and arranging alternative transportation when needed.

If you are currently traveling independently in Portugal or have upcoming train plans, we recommend checking schedules regularly and allowing extra flexibility for travel days.

As always, Camino pilgrims are adaptable — and somehow the journey always works out in the end.

✨ 2027 Camino planning has officially begun! ✨

It may sound early, but many pilgrims are already reserving their Camino trips for 2027 — especially with the Holy Year bringing extra excitement and demand to routes across Spain and Portugal.

If walking the Camino has been on your heart for years, planning early gives you the best chance at securing the dates, routes, and accommodations you truly want — especially private rooms and the most popular itineraries.

We are already seeing strong interest for:
• The French Camino
• Portuguese Coastal and Central Routes
• Sarria to Santiago
• Guided Tours for Holy Year 2027

One of the best parts of planning early is having time to prepare, train, and look forward to the journey without feeling rushed.

Your Camino does not have to stay a “someday” dream. 💛

Buen Camino!

🥾 Russ is still making his way across Spain — and now he’s reached Burgos on the French Camino! 🇪🇸✨

From muddy trails and peaceful countryside mornings to beautiful sunsets and historic city streets, every day on the Camino brings something completely different. One moment you’re walking quiet gravel paths surrounded by farmland, and the next you’re standing in the middle of a centuries-old city like Burgos with its incredible cathedral and pilgrim atmosphere.

Russ is doing an amazing job embracing every part of the experience — rain puddles included. 💛

Buen Camino, Russ! Santiago gets closer with every step.

Congratulations to Nelly and William on completing their Camino journey from Porto to Santiago on the Coastal Portuguese Route! 🎉

Over the course of their pilgrimage, they experienced stunning ocean views, peaceful seaside towns, delicious seafood, and the unforgettable atmosphere of the Camino each day along the coast of Portugal and Spain.

After arriving in Santiago de Compostela, they continued on to Finisterre to celebrate the end of their adventure at the famous “end of the world.”

What an amazing accomplishment and a journey full of memories to last a lifetime. Buen Camino, Nelly and William!

✨ September on the Camino is almost completely full! ✨

September is consistently the busiest month of the year on the Camino, and this year is no exception. For anyone still hoping to walk in 2026, we are recommending looking at October departures or considering routes other than the very popular Sarria to Santiago section, where availability is becoming extremely limited.

If you’ve been thinking about walking the Camino this fall, now is definitely the time to start planning. Once availability is gone, it becomes very difficult to piece together routes with comfortable accommodations and private rooms.

We are so excited to see so many people finally making their Camino dream happen this year. 💛
