In St. Louis today picking up another set of dock sections. Always something going on, someplace to be, or something to do! But this will be a great addition to our dock. So Yay!!

Oh my goodness! I just had someone let me know that there is a rather glaring error in the recipe from our Christmas card. I says in the instructions to mix in the flour, but in the ingredients list it does NOT show flour or the amount. The recipe should show 2 cups of AP flour. When (if) you make these, please be sure to add the flour called for in the instructions, even though I somehow omitted it from the ingredients list!

I almost forgot something. A big shout out to White River Valley Electric Cooperative! Storm damage everywhere and they showed way after dark after the first storm to get most of our power back on. Same with the second storm. We didn’t have, and still don’t have, power everywhere, but we have it where we really need it. The guys were beyond tired both times but they were still friendly and courteous as they got us back up and running. Thanks WRVEC crews! You are very much appreciated!!

In case you hadn’t heard, Turkey Creek took another big storm hit last Wednesday. Another huge batch of big trees destroyed. Another power outage. But a new twist, this time a cabin caught a tree through the roof and flooded. Thankfully no one was in it at the time. And even more so, only property damage. No guests or their cars, boats, etc. were messed up. Just our stuff. I can’t even describe how tired Robert is of digging out, cutting trees, moving debris, patching things back together. It’s a lot.

And then the bright spots! Once again our guests asked how they could help. What could they do to make our job easier. Friends arrived from St. Charles with chainsaw and muscle to help. Even when things look so dismal, we are blessed with the best guests and fantastic friends. You guys are the best!!

I’ll add a few pictures to show what this storm added to the one from 2.5 weeks ago.

We had quite an event last evening…the resort took quite a hit as pictures will show. But the cavalry was onsite!! Our guests came out in FORCE to help drag branches out of the road, clean the pool, check on everyone and just generally save the day. They were awesome, kids included!! Some helped Robert chainsaw and drag a path to the highway as three HUGE trees fell across it. Got a path out by about 8:45 pm. Power was out for half the place until 12:30 am. The office got power around 8:30 this morning as Robert had to cut a tree off the power line by our commercial laundry. Poor folks on the South side are still without power. The transformer over there is unplugged. No damage, just the power line was pulled clear of the connection. White River hopes to be back with a bucket truck later to plug it back in. Luckily the dock was unscathed! Boats had water in them but bilge pumps made short work of that. The roads are a rutted mess and covered in leaves and tiny branches but we can get around so we will deal with some junk on the road for now. A couple cabins had very minor damage and a couple had water run in. The office had a lot of water due to runoff from the pool building roof, but it’s all dry now. Thank goodness for shop vacs.

So peruse the pictures and see what a 20 minute storm left behind. It’s rather stunning.
