The newest yacht from Lyman-Morse looks to New England’s classic wooden boats while hiding plenty of modern engineering beneath the surface. The first Hood 42 LM pairs a sculpted profile and wood-clad cabin house with cold-molded composite construction that combines Douglas fir and Western red cedar with advanced laminates.

Modern touches are deliberately kept discreet, from a concealed electronics console and electronic windows to a carbon-fiber companionway door wrapped in varnished veneer. Twin 440 hp Volvo Pentas give the 42-footer a cruising speed in the mid-30-knot range.

The first Hood 42 LM will make its public debut at the Newport International Boat Show in September.

Some boats become part of the family.

After more than three decades in our care, it's bittersweet to offer JATOMA for sale. Since her launch in 1993, this one-owner Tartan 4600 has been maintained by the team at Lyman-Morse (formerly Wayfarer Marine), with continuous upgrades and meticulous care every step of the way. Along the way, she's created countless memories sailing the cool waters of New England and Atlantic Canada.

Now, she's ready for her next steward. With extensive recent upgrades—including a new mainsail, Garmin chartplotter, stereo, tender, and significant engine work—JATOMA is truly turnkey and ready for serious cruising.

If you've been waiting for an exceptionally cared-for Tartan 4600, this is a rare opportunity. Located in Camden, Maine. Contact listing broker Eric Roos at (207) 266-2399 to learn more or schedule a private showing. Listing details available at https://www.lymanmorse.com/sailing_yacht/jatoma/

Join us on Monday, August 3rd as we celebrate the launch of FIREFLY, a remarkable vessel that represents the future of sustainable boatbuilding and the power of collaboration.

Built by Lyman-Morse for Upstream Alliance, FIREFLY is a 49-foot, fully electric solar-powered catamaran designed to serve as a floating classroom and research platform on the Delaware River. FIREFLY will provide students and educators with hands-on opportunities to explore science, engineering, and environmental stewardship while demonstrating what's possible with clean marine technology.

We invite you to experience FIREFLY in person, meet the teams who brought this groundbreaking project to life, and help us celebrate an exciting milestone in American boatbuilding.

We’re excited to share that we’ve partnered with Colby College to manage the mooring field in Port Clyde Harbor. Colby is doing incredible work investing in the future of the village, including their new Center for Resilience and Economic Impact, and we’ve brought our waterfront team in to help support this legendary working harbor.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the harbor, supporting the local community, and investing in Port Clyde’s future. Together, we’re helping create a welcoming destination while preserving the character and vitality of this special coastal village.

Port Clyde has always been a special gathering place. We’re offering safe, well-managed overnight moorings with fuel, Wi-Fi, restrooms, and showers on-site, and short-term dockage if you just want to pop into town for a bit.

We’re proud to share the completed winter work our Thomaston team performed on Odalisque (ex Foftein Star), a 1989 Royal Huisman ketch.

Over the course of this project, our team touched nearly every system on board: hull and mast repairs, fairing, and fresh paint on her aluminum construction; complete mast disassembly and reassembly with all-new hardware, wiring, and a new rod rigging package; rebuilt hydraulics, furler motors, and stays; upgraded nav electronics including a new autopilot, AIS, and radar suite; and a Gen 3 Starlink installation. Below decks, the Gardner Marine main diesel received a full rebuild, as did the Hundested propulsion system and main generator.

The finishing details include new interior and exterior upholstery, color-adjustable spreader uplighting, and a beautifully restored helm wheel, hand-lettered in gold leaf with 14 coats of Epifanes gloss. A fully custom boarding platform from our Fabrication division finishes off the magnificent work.

Odalisque is a special vessel. It was a privilege to send her back out looking and performing like it.

Nice work team!

Really proud to see one of our Lyman-Morse Workboats in action supporting hands-on learning at the University of Rhode Island.

This recent feature shows students getting out of the classroom and onto Narragansett Bay, learning navigation, seamanship, and data collection in a way that simply can’t be replicated on land.

It’s especially meaningful for our team to know that the boats we build are helping develop the next generation of scientists, engineers, and mariners. Programs like this give students real ownership of their work and build skills that go far beyond textbooks.

We’ve had the privilege of building workboats for other universities and research institutions as well, and it’s always rewarding to hear how these vessels are being used to advance education and research.
