That truck might be carrying an entire showroom.

Sectionals. Dining tables. Chairs. Case goods. Pieces that took months to design, build and sell.

And now they’re all stacked inside one trailer, headed down the highway.

There’s a lot more to furniture transportation than putting stuff on a truck.

There’s planning, loading, securing, routing and a whole lot of knowing what you’re doing.

Some furniture gets around.

A showroom piece might start its journey in North Carolina, make a stop in Virginia, head to a warehouse in Tennessee, and eventually end up in a showroom a few states away before it gets to Joe and Joan Smith's home right before their anniversary party.

We see the journey.

Before that sofa, sectional or dining table ever reaches the showroom floor, there’s a lot that has to happen behind the scenes.

It has to leave the manufacturer.
It has to be loaded carefully.
It has to get where it’s going.
And it has to arrive ready for its next chapter on the showroom floor.

That journey is what we do.

Summer may be winding down, but furniture businesses are already looking ahead.

Fall is when people start thinking about how they’ll use their homes differently. Patios become four-season rooms. Sunrooms get more attention. Outdoor spaces get ready for cooler weather.

And that means new furniture starts making its way into the picture.

For retailers and manufacturers, late summer is a good time to look at what’s coming next and get ready for the fall season.

Every family has one.

The chair nobody is allowed to sit in - except maybe the dog.

The spot at the table that's somehow permanently claimed.

The recliner that's older than half the people in the house.

Funny how a piece of furniture can become part of the family.

It holds the conversations, the celebrations, the homework, the Sunday dinners and all the ordinary Tuesdays that somehow become the memories we keep.

Furniture isn't just something we put in a room.

Once it gets there, it becomes part of what happens in that room.

And every August, as routines change and kids head back to school, you notice those places a little differently.

Every August, a lot of tables get a new job.

The dining room table becomes a homework desk.
The kitchen island becomes a science lab.
The little desk in the corner suddenly has a very important customer.

There will be spelling words, science projects, half-finished snacks and probably a few arguments about who gets the good chair.

Years from now, someone might look at that table and remember the school years that happened around it.

That’s one of the things we like about furniture.

In our business, we move it from manufacturer to showroom, from warehouse to home, and from one destination to the next.

But ultimately, we're moving something that becomes part of people's lives.

So here's to the tables getting ready for another school year.

And to all the homework, memories and mysterious science projects headed their way.
