Exciting news at the District!

On Thursday morning, two slightly used (new to us!) vintage trolley buses were delivered to our campus from Washington! With only approximately 3,800 and 4,200 miles on them, they are almost brand new!

They will start serving our Tillamook County communities on Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 by mid-June! You'll also start to see other new buses arriving at TCTD as we continue to renew and upgrade our fleet!

Come on board and ride The WAVE! πŸšƒπŸŒŠ

It's that time of the year again!

The Pacific City Shuttle returns this Saturday to the Pacific City-Woods area! The Shuttle will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, with stops between Bob Straub State Park in the south and Whalen Island/Clay Myers in the north. It will operate every 60-minutes and will run on Memorial Day and Labor Day. And of course the Pacific City Shuttle is always free to ride! Holley the Trolley will also be there! πŸšƒ

The Pacific City Shuttle starts and ends every trip at the Thousand Trails office. Seven trips will be operated each weekend day, with the first trip starting at 10:00 AM. Other trips begin at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and 4:30 PM.

The Shuttle provides access to some of the most popular destinations around Pacific City, such as the Pelican Pub, Sitka Sedge Natural Area, Whalen Island, and the Kiawanda Community Center. Residents of both the Pacific City-Woods area are welcome on the Pacific City Shuttle as well. Our buses can accommodate two bicycles on the front-loaded bike rack.

For more information on the Pacific City Shuttle please call the Tillamook County Transportation District office weekdays at 503-815-8283 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM or visit our website in the coming days at: www.tillamookbus.com

RIDER ALERT: This week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we will be conducting on-board rider surveys to help us learn who's riding, when they're riding, and where they're going. We'll also be taking surveys next Friday, 5/29 and Saturday, 5/30.

Please help us collect good, accurate data to inform the update of our Transit Development Plan that will begin later this summer!

Look for surveyors in Quality Counts safety vests on your bus and help us help you!

We're happy to share that General Manager, Brian Vitulli, was recently elected by his peers as President of the Oregon Transit Association!

Seated in January 2026, his term lasts for two years. In addition to his main duty of overseeing the Transportation District, his priorities as President include working collaboratively with his fellow OTA Board colleagues to set goals and develop strategies for the upcoming legislative session, increasing membership numbers, and continuing to provide a forum for Oregon public transit providers to advocate for a strong and healthy, statewide transit industry that serves Oregon communities.

This is an exciting time for TCTD and all of Tillamook County!

Hope you were able to see one of our newer buses at the Touch-A-Truck event yesterday!

It was a great opportunity for young folks to learn about public transportation and get a chance to honk the horn!

Thank you, City of Tillamook, Oregon for inviting us and Tillamook Area Chamber of Commerce for spreading the word.

Great news and an example of another effective community partnership! Tillamook Bay Community College constructed a new bus stop as part of their campus expansion project!

Starting today, April 9, 2026, our Route 1 (Town Loop) service is once again directly serving TBCC!

Thank you, TBCC, for including TCTD in your project! This will benefit our students and our riders!

RIDER ALERT: High water is impacting several of our routes:

Route 1 (Town Loop) is not going north of First Street and will lay-over at the Post Office.

Route 3 (Tillamook-Manzanita-Cannon Beach) will use Wilson River Loop and Latimer Road to bypass the flooded sections of U.S. Hwy 101 north of First Street.

We will update throughout the day as necessary.

Be safe! Thank you for your patience!

Congratulations to Doug Vernieu, the Tillamook County Transportation District's (The Wave) 2025 Employee of the Year!

Doug (pictured here with GM Brian Vitulli) started with The Wave in December of 2021 as a Transit Driver. He brought years of school bus driver experience with him which helped with the transition to public transit and benefitted the community immediately. He has since been promoted to a Dispatcher where he works to provide timely and courteous customer service to the public and monitor daily transportation activities at the District. Doug is a great team player and TCTD is lucky to have him!

Please join us in congratulating πŸ‘Doug for his outstanding work here at The Wave!
