I harvested a wild turkey this morning on a neighbor's land not far from here. You could say it's organic free range turkey. It has 3/4" spurs and a 10.25" beard. They are so much fun to hunt, and GREAT on the table!

We had up to an inch of ice here with some tree damage. Here's a rather humorous example of how much ice we had. This is our weather vane on the garage.

We have about half an inch of ice this morning. The power went off earlier for about 1 1/2 hours. Pretty, but dangerous and doing damage to the trees. Impossible to read the rain gauge! We are hunkering today.

We have chestnuts for sale. The cost is 5 for a dollar (20 cents each), plus shipping. They are wonderful for roasting, or you can use them as seed to plant your own chestnut tree.

The chestnut trees had a great bloom in July and are now heavy with nuts. Here's a late July picture. We have two different varieties. The nuts should be ready by mid-October. We'll let you know if they produce as well as we think they will.

Start thinking-"roasting chestnuts by an open fire".😋

The hazelnut production doesn't look good again this fall. May have been too wet during pollination time.
