National Trails Day is just one week away!

Join thousands of outdoor enthusiasts across the country on Saturday, June 6, as we celebrate the 34th annual National Trails Day, created by the American Hiking Society. Whether you hike, bike, paddle, volunteer, or simply enjoy your local trail, this is your chance to get outside and help leave our trails better than you found them.

Planning a National Trails Day event in your community? Let Kansas Trails Inc. know! We'd love to help promote your event and showcase trail activities happening across Kansas.

Get outside. Give back. Celebrate trails!

Alta Vista, Douglass, Fort Scott, Grainfield, La Crosse, and Leavenworth have all completed their Safe Routes to School Plans!

Over the past school year, these communities developed their first Safe Routes to School Plans as part of KDOT’s Planning and Programming grant opportunity. The plans outline policy, programming, and project recommendations to make walking, biking, and rolling to school safer and more enjoyable for students and families. Thank you to everyone who contributed — we’re excited to see these plans put into action!
