In three weeks, it is Election Day. Topeka Metro will offer FREE rides on November 3, 2026, on the fixed route and the paratransit/Lift.

There is a limit of two (2) free rides on the Lift. Additional Lift trips can be scheduled for the usual fare of $4.00 per trip. Lift passengers must call to schedule a trip. The number is (785) 783-7000.

If you want to get to your polling place, you must know the location. Bus operators are not required to know where polling locations are. If you do not know your polling location, go to https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView

October is National Pedestrian Safety Month. Whether walking to the bus stop, work, school, errands or just for exercise, at some point in the day, everyone is a pedestrian.

When it comes to keeping pedestrians safe, EVERYONE has a responsibility--pedestrians, drivers and all of those who use our roads.

The world is in a hurry, but as a pedestrian, slow down and make sure watch for vehicles, and drivers watch for the pedestrians. 🚶🏾‍♂️👩‍🦯

October is National Fire Prevention Month. This year's official theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety ⚡️ Safe Charging Is a Superpower."

Just think of how many items we use to charge devices. You can reduce lithium-ion battery fires from mobile phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, headphones, vapes and e-cigarettes, e-bikes and scooters, portable monitors and pumps needing voltage, electric vehicles and much more!

Using an extension cord may cause the charging item to heat up more than it should. Plugging your device into the outlet is the safe decision. AND...make sure you have smoke detectors in your residence--it could save your life!

During Halloween season costume masks cannot be worn on the bus, so if you have a mask when boarding, you will need to remove it during your travels on the bus. Medical masks are the exception. Be visible. Be safe. 🚫 👺 👻 🎃
