⛔️I-70 ramp in Topeka to close for PQV project

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, the eastbound I-70 exit ramp to Topeka Boulevard will temporarily close for work on the Kansas Department of Transportation’s I-70 Polk-Quincy Viaduct (PQV) project in Topeka.

The ramp is expected to be closed for approximately two weeks. During the closure, eastbound I-70 traffic will be detoured to the MacVicar Avenue exit, then to 6th Avenue to Topeka Boulevard.

All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting and subject to change.

🔶Wakarusa Drive closures being rescheduled on K-10/SLT project

The Kansas Department of Transportation is rescheduling the series of temporary closures on Wakarusa Drive in Lawrence due to utility relocation conflicts. The previously announced closures are part of the ongoing K-10/South Lawrence Trafficway (SLT) expansion project.

The first closure, between Clinton Parkway and the entrance to Miller Mart, started on Aug. 19 and was initially scheduled to be in place for 45 calendar days. The closure will now be extended by several additional weeks while adjustments are made to the design plans and construction work is completed in the closure area.

The second and third closures on Wakarusa Drive will be rescheduled to take place next year. Information will be provided in advance.

All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting and subject to change.

PLAN AHEAD: EB I-70 and NB U.S. 77 construction in Geary Co. could impact game day travel.

CLOSED: Eastbound I-70 on-ramp at Marshall Field will close during periods of high traffic (game weekends) in an effort to improve traffic flow.

Eastbound I-70 motorists: Traffic reduced to one lane between Henry Dr (Exit 301) and K-18 (Exit 303).

Northbound U.S. 77 motorists: Lane reductions just south of I-70 with temporary traffic signals to direct traffic around bridge construction.

Be prepared for possible traffic back-ups. Motorists are advised to leave early, if possible, and allow extra time or use alternate routes. Check kandrive.gov for current road conditions and construction info.

🔶U.S. 77 project in Waterville to begin Friday

A Kansas Department of Transportation roadway improvement project will begin on U.S. 77 in Marshall County on Friday, Aug. 28. The project location is just east of Minnesota Avenue in Waterville.

Both directions of traffic will be maintained as work takes place along the roadway shoulders. A reduced speed limit of 20 mph and a 12-foot width restriction will be in effect through the work zone.

Work will occur Monday through Friday during daytime hours and is expected to be complete by early October, conditions permitting.

Vogts-Parga Construction LLC, of Moundridge, is the $157,000 project’s prime contractor.
