Happy National Beef Month!
Make sure to thank all our hard working farmers and ranchers for all they produce for us! In honor of National Beef Month, here are some facts you may have never “herd” before!
🥩91% of farms and ranches are family owned, and 1/3 of farms in the US raise beef cattle.
🥩Today's beef producers are producing the same amount of beef as 1977 with 53% fewer cattle. This is due to improvements in animal health, nutrition and genetics.
🥩The average herd size for beef cattle in the US is 40 head and all 50 states are home to cow-calf operations.
🥩Cattle are up-cyclers! For every 1 pound of feed protein, they produce 1.19 pounds of beef protein!
🥩Beef is an excellent source of iron, zinc, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and phosphorus.
