Tulsa Girls Art School

Tulsa Girls Art School Tulsa Girls Art School is a non-profit providing after-school art and youth development support to at-promise girls. We are happy to answer them!

Our school is located in historic Kendall Whittier and serves 75+ amazing girls each year — all at no cost to the girls or their families. In 2007, Mona Pittenger and Matt Moffett co-founded the Tulsa Girls Art School. Today, Tulsa Girls Art School continues to develop and evolve into one of the most unique art organizations in Tulsa. Each year Tulsa Girls Art School partners with two elementary s

chool in the Tulsa Public Schools district, focusing on those located in the urban areas of Tulsa, and in close proximity to downtown. We select 12 girls from the third grade to form the "Beginners" class. Each girl is interviewed and recommended by their art teacher, homeroom teacher, and principal of her school. After completing one year in the program, the girls are invited to continue their involvement by joining the "Intermediate," and eventually the "Advanced" class, in which they may participate until graduation from high school. Tulsa Girls Art School aims to develop its students' understanding and appreciation of art and the life of an artist. By cultivating strong leadership skills and promoting responsible financial management, the girls are encouraged to see themselves as both artists and life-long participants in the arts community. The program is completely funded through donations, which provides our students—free of charge—with transportation to and from class, in addition to all the supplies needed to create works of art in a multitude of different mediums. Tulsa Girls Art School holds our Spring Show in April, where we transform our art studio into a gallery. The event is open to the public, and guests are able to meet the young artists themselves, and purchase their one-of-a-kind masterpieces! 50% of the proceeds from the sale of each girl's work is placed into a savings account, monitored by Tulsa Girls Art School. Beyond learning to responsibly manage their personal finances, the savings allow the girls to purchase art supplies, not provided by the school, to build their own personal collection of tools. The funds can also be used to pay for museum and gallery admittance, to cover entry fees for any art contests they wish to enter, or, when the time comes, to help sponsor the costs associated with college applications and ACT/SAT admissions tests. If you have any other questions about the program, please feel free to ask!

And just like that...summer is over and we are back in session for fall! 🎨🍂🖌

Today is our first day of fall session and we are so excited to welcome our students into the studio! Whether you've been in the program for a while or are a new face, we are so glad to have you!

This school year, we increased student capacity from 75 to 90 students. It's such a privilege to have the opportunity to get to know these girls and watch them grow throughout the years. THANK YOU to all of the new families that applied to be in our program. If you missed out, our application is closed for now, but check back in spring for openings!

✨Stay tuned for all of the fun we will get into this fall!✨

It’s been just over one year since Amber Litwack took the helm as executive director of Tulsa Girls Art School, a nonprofit that inspires young women between third and 12th grade through art education 🎨

Tulsans can see the students’ work for themselves during a special showing taking place at the Tulsa Artist Fellowship Archer Studios Building (205 E. Archer St.) during the First Friday Art Crawls on Aug. 7 and Sept. 4.

Litwack is no stranger to the Tulsa arts community, having previously served as executive director at Tulsa Foundation for Architecture in addition to her work with the Any Given Child-Tulsa program and the former ahha Tulsa. Litwack holds a B.F.A in studio art, a B.A. in art history and an M.A. in Art Education from The University of Tulsa.

In 2015, Litwack completed a Project Zero fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Then in 2017, she completed a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Oklahoma State University, where her primary research focus was arts education.

She took some time between summer sessions to tell TulsaPeople more about Tulsa Girls Art School, her first year in the role and what is on the horizon for the organization ✨

Last week, we wrapped up our summer programming with our high school students, and what an incredible way to end the season! We were honored to welcome to the studio, where she spent the week introducing our girls to the art of working with clay.

Her calm, patient, and encouraging presence created such a welcoming environment for creativity to flourish. Throughout the week, our students explored new techniques, challenged themselves, and created beautiful ceramic pieces.

Thank you again to for helping us make 2026 summer camps so much fun!!

This year's Art Party draws inspiration from Georgia O'Keeffe, an artist whose work was shaped by a fearless commitment to her own path. O'Keeffe's life and art inspire us to embrace authenticity, find beauty in the world around us and create with confidence and purpose!

Together, we'll celebrate the transformative power of art while investing in the creative young women at Tulsa Girls Art School.

Our second week of summer camp is in the books and WOW! We had so much fun!

Richard Zimmerman led our girls through a fun filled week of making their own paints and natural inks! 🎨 The girls had so much fun learning this new skill and it was amazing to see paintings and drawings come alive with art supplies that they made on their own.

A huge thank you to and for making this camp happen. We are so grateful to share new opportunities with Tulsa Girls!

🎨🌞Littles Summer Camp Recap 🌞🎨

We were so delighted to have from teach a week long watercolors class with our Littles! The kids had a blast and watching Natani work with them was truly amazing. Her gentle and reaffirming leadership made the week so special. Thank you, Natani!

We are so grateful to be partnering with Tulsa Artist Fellowship for all summer camps this year. It's so wonderful to bring in visiting artists and have them share their expertise with the girls!

Stay tuned for middles camp updates!

Happy Birthday, Alyssa. 💕

Today we are deeply honored to recognize gifts made in memory of a talented young artist whose creativity, spirit, and bright light continue to inspire others.

Alyssa's love of art lives on through the generosity of her parents, who have chosen to honor her memory through both financial contributions and donations of art supplies to Tulsa Girls Art School. Their gifts help ensure that more girls have access to the tools, opportunities, mentorship, and encouragement they need to grow as artists and young women.

By sharing Alyssa's story and inviting others to support our mission, they have also inspired additional memorial gifts that continue to strengthen and sustain our work. Because of this generosity, Tulsa Girls Art School students are able to create, express themselves, build confidence, and discover new possibilities through art.

We are profoundly grateful to Alyssa's parents for honoring her memory in a way that so beautifully reflects the creativity, kindness, and joy she brought into the world. Through the opportunities they have created for others, Alyssa's legacy will continue to make a lasting impact on Tulsa Girls.

Today, we celebrate Alyssa and the enduring influence of a life that continues to inspire, uplift, and create opportunities for others.

We’re back from Santa Fe, and what an incredible experience it was! ✨

From visiting Bluebird Ranch to creating handmade jewelry, exploring museums, participating in workshops, and so much more, we made the most of every moment.

This annual trip is more than just an adventure, it’s a powerful opportunity for our advanced students to build real-world skills, strengthen their independence, and gain confidence as they navigate new experiences together. We’re so proud of all they learned, created, and accomplished along the way!

Thank you to Family Philanthropies for making our Summer Trip possible. We are so grateful for our partnership!
