🤩 We’ve made it through week 2️⃣

Here’s a couple of helpful reminders about the bus.

➡️ Beginning next week, drivers will begin taking attendance and we will start removing those that aren’t riding the bus to keep our attendance counts accurate.

We appreciate your patience as we’ve worked through our busy start up. We will also begin looking at ways to adjust a couple of the routes with late arrival times to ensure all of our students are arriving to school on-time.

We hope each of you have a wonderful weekend and we’ll see you on Monday 💛🚌

Stay Connected with Stopfinder 🚌📲

As we wrap up a wonderful first week of school, we want to say THANK YOU to our families for your patience, understanding, and grace as we continue adjusting routes and fine-tuning our transportation operations.

➡️ If you haven’t already, we strongly encourage all parents and guardians to download and activate the Stopfinder app. Stopfinder is the best way to stay up to date with real-time bus information, schedule changes, delays, bus locations, and other important transportation updates.

We are incredibly thankful to the many families who have already activated Stopfinder, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more of you connected in the coming weeks! 💚

We are also currently experiencing a technical issue affecting several students within the system. Our team is actively working through these issues and we are hopeful that we will have them resolved by next week. We appreciate your patience as we work to get everything running as smoothly as possible.

Finally, please know that bus timing will continue to improve over the next two weeks as drivers become more familiar with their routes, traffic patterns settle into a routine, and we make a few additional route adjustments.

Thank you for an AMAZING first week, for trusting us with your students, and for your continued patience as we work toward an even smoother transportation experience. We appreciate our TCS families more than you know! 💚🖤💛

A few important reminders for the first week:

🚌 Be at your bus stop 10 minutes before your scheduled arrival time.

⏰ Please give us some grace in the afternoons. Buses may run later than normal during the first week as students and drivers learn their routes, stops, and routines.

🎒 PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE WRISTBAND FROM YOUR CHILD'S BACKPACK.

To help us prevent students from becoming “lost” or getting on the wrong bus, we will be using a special identification system during the first week of school.

Each morning when students arrive at school, teachers will place a specific wristband on their backpack. The wristband may feature a lightning bolt, penguin, specific color, or another design. This will help school and transportation staff quickly identify which bus each student should ride.

⚠️ If your child does not have a wristband on their backpack in the afternoon, we may be unable to transport them home until we can verify which bus they are assigned to.

This extra step is being taken to help keep our students safe and ensure every child gets on the correct bus each afternoon.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and partnership as we work together to make the first week as safe and successful as possible.

🚌✨ ’Twas the Day Before School… ✨🚌

’Twas the day before school, and all through the lot,
Not a bus was moving—not even one spot.
The drivers were ready, their routes in their hands,
Prepared to roll out across all our lands.

The buses were polished, the engines were tight,
The tablets were charged and the Stopfinder was right.
The drivers were dreaming of students they’d greet,
While aides checked their buses from front door to back seat.

Then out in the parking lot arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our offices to see what was the matter!
“Is it a late bus? A route gone astray?”
Nope—it’s SCHOOL STARTING TOMORROW! Hooray! 🎉

So buckle up, staff, the big day is here!
A brand-new school year is finally near.
With safety our mission and teamwork our way,
We’re ready to roll for the first school day! 💚🚌

🎉🚌 TCS Kickoff 2026-2027 is here! 🚌🎉

Today officially marks the start of the 2026-2027 school year for Tuscaloosa City Schools, and the Transportation Department is energized, refreshed, and ready for an amazing year!

Our incredible team is excited to welcome students back on Monday, August 10. Throughout this week, you’ll see our buses out across the community as drivers practice their routes to ensure a safe, smooth, and successful first day of school. 💚

Thank you to our Department for your hard work and dedication in preparing for another great school year.

🚌 Remember to have students at their bus stop 10 minutes before their scheduled pickup time, and be sure to check Stopfinder for the latest transportation updates.
