Today, we recognize Juneteenth, which marked the end of slavery in the United States.

As we reflect on this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to opening doors for underrepresented groups and ensuring that every qualified pilot has a path forward.

For nearly 50 years, Les pilotes d’Air Inuit / Air Inuit pilots have flown in some of the world’s most challenging conditions, from gravel strips to extreme weather, serving Inuit villages across Nunavik.

After joining ALPA in 2023, they achieved a historic milestone in September 2025 –– voting overwhelmingly in favor of their first collective agreement under our representation.

Their first ALPA contract underscores both the skill required to operate in the challenging environments they do and the vital role they play in northern community life.

🗣️ "In 2026, I just don't feel there's a reason we shouldn't be utilizing each and every available piece of technology."

A pilot himself, Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr. knows firsthand that aviation safety depends on giving pilots the best tools, data, and information available. That's exactly what an ADS-B In technology requirement on commercial airliners would deliver, and why it should be in the final aviation safety legislation Congress writes when they reconcile the ROTOR and ALERT Acts.

Air Creebec pilots 🤝 ALPA

We’re proud to represent these pilots who have unionized for the first time.

Their airline provides services for remote communities across northern Québec and Ontario. That means these pilots routinely fly in some of Canada's most challenging environments, bringing a high level of skill, adaptability and unwavering commitment to safety to every flight that supports the daily lives of people in communities that depend on them.

Now they're focused on securing a professional, modern collective agreement that reflects the complexity and importance of that work. And we intend to help them do just that.

Welcome to ALPA, Air Creebec pilots. 🎉

Peak solidarity at the AFL-CIO Convention this week ✊

ALPA President Capt. Jason Ambrosi and First Vice President Capt. Wendy Morse led the ALPA delegation at the AFL’s 30th convening of its 65 affiliates to shape and guide the labor movement agenda. ALPA was proud to be part of the votes that unanimously reelected AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler and Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond –– strong, proven leaders whose work moves the needle for working people across America, including our pilots. Ambrosi was also reelected to the AFL’s Executive Council.

From AI in the workplace to organizing lessons to building a future workers deserve, this convention tackled the issues that matter most to workers, and ALPA was proud to be a part of it.

“We're asking lawmakers to take two good bills and take the best out of both.” ALPA President Capt. Jason Ambrosi tells Scripps News why it's not ROTOR Act versus ALERT Act — Congress should include the best parts of each in one strong aviation safety bill that closes critical gaps and ensures a tragedy like PSA Flight 5342 never happens again.

"Don’t allow it to be bartered away for saving pennies on the dollar when this will save lives." Val Hoyle is not giving up on the fight for an ADS-B In mandate, and neither are we.
