CFCC Boat Building and Boat Manufacturing

CFCC Boat Building and Boat Manufacturing Boat Building Programs at Cape Fear Community College Graduates will have the skills needed to work for companies in boat building, boat repair or woodworking.

Located in historic downtown Wilmington, North Carolina along the Cape Fear River, CFCC's day and night classess in the boat building school offers two programs designed to teach students the fundamentals to work in the boat building and repair industry. The programs focus on hands-on training in traditional and modern boat construction, repair, and mechanical system maintenance.

Ribbands are in on the catspaw mold.

White oak frames cut out, ran all four sides through the router table just to knock the edges off.

Made a soaking bath from old lofting boards and let those frames sit over the weekend with lead weights on top so they don’t float.

Asa Thompson skiff crew got their sapele transom made and hung, white oak stem in place, white oak chines steam bent. Carefully sawed out the bevels for the joints at the stem and using a bit brace to install bronze fasteners.
