MTD is hiring! We’re looking for a Software Developer to join our Technology Services team and help design, develop, and maintain the software systems that power critical transit services and customer information tools. Salary: $61,500-$78,500/year.

This full-time salaried position offers outstanding benefits, including 100% employer-paid family health, dental, and vision insurance, IMRF pension, paid time off, parental leave, and more. We're seeking a developer experienced in C #, ASP.NET Core, React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Azure to support and enhance MTD's web applications, APIs, databases, and passenger information systems.

From planning your trip to tracking your bus in real time, MTD has the tools to make navigating campus easy. Plus, eligible passengers ride fare-free with their i-card or within the Illinois app.

Heads up, Unit 4 and District 116 families! 🎒

Before the first day of school, make sure you're set up for smooth, stress-free rides with MTD:

🪪 Check your ride status
Ask your school if you're eligible for MTD transportation based on your home address. If you are, they’ll add a sticker or label to your student ID, which becomes your bus pass for fare-free rides to and from school.

📍 Map out your route
Find your school's bus info at mtd.org/schools. Just select your school and locate your neighborhood to get a custom trip plan with maps and times. Save it so you’re ready on day one!

Maps & Schedules Cover Reveal 🍒

This year's Maps & Schedules book serves up something sweet.

Inspired by our Kindness is a Piece of Cake campaign, the 2026-2027 cover transforms an everyday bus ride into a bakery on wheels, where kindness, community, and a little fun ride together. Familiar treats fill the seats, but look closely and you'll spot the cherry on top: the debut of MTD's new 17 Cherry Route.

Just like a great dessert, every trip is made better by the people who share it. Whether it's offering a seat, greeting a driver, or helping a neighbor navigate the system, small acts of kindness help make every ride a little sweeter.

Staff Highlight: Hayley Seward 🚍

Over the past seven years, Hayley Seward has experienced MTD from multiple perspectives. Starting as an Information Assistant at Illinois Terminal, moving into the Finance Department, and now serving as a Bus Operator, she's gained a unique appreciation for how every part of the organization works together to serve the community.

For Hayley, one of the most rewarding aspects of driving is the opportunity to build relationships with passengers and see firsthand the impact transit has on their daily lives.

"It's different when you're driving the bus. If you pick a route, you get to see your regulars and build those relationships with them."

Whether she's helping students get to class, connecting with familiar faces along her route, or encouraging new employees to ask questions and learn from those around them, Hayley brings a positive, team-focused mindset to every shift.

Outside of work, Hayley enjoys playing Nintendo games, spending time with family, and keeping up with her longtime passion for dance.
