I recently met with Henry, a client who lost his wife in February after a 40-year marriage. Henry works as a grief counselor and has been helping others cope with their loss, but now he finds himself seeking support through group therapy sessions. As he approaches a significant life transition into Independent Living, Henry is struggling to come to terms with his new reality. The pain of his grief is compounded by the daunting task of restructuring his life and making difficult decisions about his belongings. I noticed a profound sense of fear in his eyes, coupled with a deep longing for connection and understanding. Despite the challenges he faces, Henry is on the verge of a new chapter in his life. He offered to share a poem he wrote, which has resonated with many, and was pleased that its message could potentially reach a wider audience. Loss of your spouse and what feels like the loss of independence is a lot to carry!

People see the team.

People see the moves.

What they don’t see are the sleepless nights…

The payroll that has to be met.

The families in crisis who need help.

The employees who depend on us.

The seniors who trust us with a lifetime of memories.

Sometimes the weight feels heavy.

But then I remember why we started.

Every box.

Every move.

Every family.

Every senior.

Every employee.

Every relationship.

They matter.

And despite the challenges…

I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

What a day!

This morning I had the privilege of presenting “The Joy of Letting Go” at Cypress Springs Gracious Living. From there, I was off to visit several of our amazing teams working hard on moves at Aravilla, Fountains of Hope, Grand Living Wellen Park, along with a large cleanout project.
The day continued with Venice Vibes, an event that WeCare Senior Relocation Services is proud to sponsor. What a fantastic turnout and a wonderful opportunity to connect with so many great people in our community!
Just when I thought the day was winding down, I got a call that one of our trucks had broken down. Thankfully, the truck was quickly towed, and I was able to pick up our movers and get them back to their vehicle safely.
But wait… there’s more! As I was leaving the parking lot, I noticed my car smelled hot. I popped the hood and was greeted by smoke.
Some days just seem determined to test you.
But you know what? The good truly outweighed the bad today. We helped families, supported our community, connected with great people, and handled the unexpected challenges that come with running a business.
Life happens. Things break. Plans change. But gratitude always wins.
Today, despite it all, I am thankful.
