SAILDRONE, INC. will conduct operations with Voyager-Class Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) in local offshore waters for the next month. The Saildrone Voyager is 33 feet in length, 2 feet in width, has a draft of 7 feet, and stands 21 feet tall above the waterline. The vehicles are orange or gray in color, marked “SAILDRONE,” carry a tricolor light and white all-round light on top of the wing, and are equipped with a radar reflector, GPS, AIS, and cameras. The vehicles travel at an average speed of approximately 3 knots. Mariners are requested to remain greater than 500 meters away from the vehicles. WE’RE MOVING! Vessel Assist & TowBoatUS towing providers have been operating here since the mid-1990s—we’re sad to be leaving the place that has been our home for so long. It has served us well over the years, and we’re grateful for the memories and relationships built here.
The good news is we’re not going far. Our new physical address is 1651 Anchors Way Drive, where we’ll be based out of Harbortown Point Marina. For the first time in our history, we’ll have a private marina facility dedicated exclusively to Channel Watch Marine Services, with our own office and docks reserved solely for our fleet. This dedicated space will allow us to better support our operations while continuing to provide the same fast, reliable service our customers have come to expect.
We’re excited for this next chapter and are confident our new home will serve both our team and our customers well for many years to come. We’ll certainly miss 1516 Anchors Way: thank you for the many sunrises, sunsets, memories, and relationships made right here. We’re excited to share our new facility soon.

Some troubles with a spinnaker caused this boat to become beset by the weather requiring a tow back in. Fortunately a rigger was on standby to untangle the mess with no additional damage.

While most were comfortably sleeping in bed in the middle of the night, our captains were getting up to respond to Anacapa Island in reference to a sinking kayak with people in the water. Arriving less than an hour after time of call, our captains were the first boat on scene. Coast Guard Air Station Ventura hoisted the two survivors from the water and transported them back to land. Our captains recovered the kayak once the helicopter cleared. We are proud to assist the Coast Guard with their mission to protect life and property at sea.

Over the past 24 hours, we’ve responded to assist 3 different vehicles stuck on the sand on local beaches. No, it’s not legal to go drive on the sand, especially within a State Park and over dunes where Snowy Plovers nest (Listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act). Yes, citations were issued.
