June is going to be full of fun, sunshine, AND community! During the month of June, our park will be working to help local families in need.
Did you know that many children in Tennessee face food insecurity during the summer months when school meals and snacks are no longer available? According to the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, thousands of families across our state struggle to afford basic needs like food, housing, and utilities. During the summer, these struggles can be especially hard.
That’s why we’re partnering to support the Good Shepherd Center, a local nonprofit that has served Monroe County families since 1986. Their mission is to provide food, clothing, emergency assistance, and hope to neighbors facing hard times while encouraging self-sufficiency and dignity for every person they serve.
📍 FOOD DRIVE DETAILS
🗓 When: All throughout June
📍 Where: Fort Loudoun State Park
🥫 How to Help: A food donation drop-off box will be available at the park. Exact location will be announced in June!
Every can, box, and bag donated can help feed a child, support a family, and strengthen our community. Over the next couple weeks find some time to check the cans in your house or start picking out some of your personal favorites to drop off for us at kickoff (June 1st)! Thank you for helping us make a difference this summer! 💛
