☀️ Beat the Heat: Stay Safe This Summer! 🥵💙

Summer is here, and while it's the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, high temperatures can become dangerous very quickly. Knowing how to prevent heat-related illness could save your life—or someone else's.

🌞 Tips to Stay Cool

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don't feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
🌳 Stay in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible.
🕶️ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest hours (10 AM–4 PM).
🧴 Wear sunscreen to help prevent sunburn, which makes it harder for your body to cool itself.
🚗 Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute.

⚠️ Know the Signs of Heat Exhaustion

Heavy sweating
Cool, pale, or clammy skin
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Weakness or fatigue
Muscle cramps
Headache
Nausea or vomiting
Fast, weak pulse
Fainting

🆘 What to Do

✅ Move to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned place.
✅ Sip cool water or a sports drink if you're alert and able to drink.
✅ Loosen or remove excess clothing.
✅ Apply cool, wet towels or ice packs to the neck, armpits, and groin.
✅ Rest until you feel better.

🚨 Call 911 immediately if the person:

Becomes confused or difficult to wake
Loses consciousness
Has a seizure
Stops sweating and has hot, red skin
Has a body temperature above 103°F

These could be signs of heat stroke, a life-threatening medical emergency that requires immediate treatment.

❤️ A little preparation goes a long way. Stay hydrated, check on your family, friends, neighbors, and older loved ones, and don't ignore the warning signs.
