We had warbird aerial photographer Ron Malec giving a presentation on air-to-air photography at our meeting this past weekend. He did an outstanding job in explaining the entire process to safely take great photos. Well done, Ron.

Next month we will be flying Young Eagles prior to our meeting on Feb 14th. We'll have a presentation on powered parachutes for our meeting topic.

The chapter had it's annual Christmas luncheon at Laura restaurant in Summerville last month. Chapter recognition awards and pins were also passed out. The chapter had a good year, flying 86 Young Eagles. We had some EAA members from outside of the chapter who helped us by flying kids too. Thanks go to all the pilots and ground crew folks who made that possible, especially our Young Eagle Coordinator, Liz Birch.

The chapter will resume flying Young Eagles in February. Any EAA member who is registered with EAA as a Young Eagle pilot can take these kids flying. Contact us if interested.

There will be a FAA FAST presentation at the Lowcountry Regional Airport (KRBW) this Saturday, 9/13, at 11:00 AM. In the terminal conference room.

Today was International Young Eagles Day and our chapter flew 22 Young Eagle kids today, joining the 2.5 million children who have flown through EAA’s Young Eagle program. Our volunteer pilots and ground team provide free flights to children from 7 to 17. Many thanks to our volunteers today and thanks go out to the Ace Basin Civil Air Patrol Squadron for having an information table to talk with young people interested in aerospace education.

The chapter did a presentation at Charleston Southern University last month to the members of the CSU Aeronautics Club about the Experimental Aircraft Association. They have a great club made up of impressive students interested in pursuing aerospace careers. CSU has a very good aviation program for anyone interested if furthering their education in aviation.

Last week EAA Chapter 477 flew 12 cadets of the Edisto High School Air Force Junior ROTC through the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagle's program. A nice, enthusiastic group of teenagers. In 2024, the chapter flew 88 Young Eagles, adding to the 2,300,000+ children EAA volunteers across the country have flown since it's conception. The chapter will be holding a Young Eagle Rally on March 22 at the Lowcountry Regional Airport in Walterboro.
