The ole cubavitch is sittin pretty and almost completed minus a few parts here and there and the flooring. Weve really put alot of work into the fabrication side of this boat trying to give the owners exactly what they wanted from the custom seat boxes that open up to the motors with the couch still having a large storage hatch in it to the table being easily dropped to make a small bed and making It so all parts can be easily removed with thoughts of a repower in the future. In the cockpit making a large in deck kill box also custom mezz seats with one side being a large ice chest for the icemaker. Custom hardtop fully hand built no molds used at all on this boat anywhere. New headliner all the way all sorts of teak and wood work and clear coating added all over i cant even begin to list all the customizations that have been done but our guys really did a great job being able to do every aspect of this boat in house minus the aluminum frame work we subbed that out to wanchese metal works and izzy teak with the teak art on the stern and drip cap as well as name. Man i cant wait to see her in the water, hopefully next week if this weather works with us!

It’s time a 53 Gwaltney from the early 90’s getting some much needed love from replacing lower guards and drip cap to fixing teak coverboard issues to delam and rot to completely stripping the old paint from the hull due to issues with the paint from the last hull paint job along with new tuna door new water ways in mezz boxes new thru hulls the list goes on but she’ll be ready for her next adventure here soon!

We are also getting busy earlier on this year and are looking for some experienced guys to join our family. The cubavitch has come a long way since the last post. Exterior in topcoat working towards finishing out interior/express gally and cockpit build. Most all pumps switch’s wiring motors gen ect is close to completion. All new teak washboards combing and toe rail. Stripped all the old mahogany and re cleared everything. New bridge seats and bridge wings. Won’t be long and we’ll be starting on the new frame work and hardtop. The list of items done goes on and on but man I can’t wait to see this thing hit the water!

My son Jordan was gifted his great grandfathers boat( he’s in the first pic) by his grandfather(second pic) who called me and asked if I wanted a project to do with Jordan so he could have his own boat. I was all for it! Jordan worked hard on helping me getting it all tore apart sanded and putting the stern back in and ready to be put back together. He got busy with work and school coming to end so I decided for his senior graduation present I would finish out the boat for him for a surprise. Well he was surprised all right! Here’s how she turned out and man was it a fun boat ride with him today touring our little island showing him all the short cuts through the marsh and how to navigate the chanels and the honey holes to fish my dad showed me!

4reel came in this winter for some cosmetic upgrades. We did a pulpit delete, added a intergrated grab rail to the house, took what he had for a mezz and turned it into exactly what he wanted for a mezz, reglassed the windshield with high temp resin, reglassed washboards in the cockpit, all new rubrail, fixing cracks and filling unused holes and a full paint job minus the inner bridge. She came out looking good! Now it’s back in va to run some charters!

The 25 Sou Wester that’s now officially a 29 Sou Wester is all finished up on our end the owner has taken the boat back to his shop to finish out all rigging we’ll do a sea trial when that’s complete mark water line finish bottom paint add a boot stripe and she’ll be ready to fish her charter season out of Ocracoke!

With a heavy heart and a shop full of sadness in the early hours of this morning we lost a good man too soon. There is a lot to be said about Justino “Topo” Ortega Vidal, he was a kind hearted man and a hard worker always smiling. I know his family and friends are hurting right now but we are all offered a little bit of peace knowing you are no longer in pain. You put up a great fight and we all know you are in a better place now. Till we meet again my good friend rest in peace 🕊️

Major conversion on the ole 25 sou’wester which is now a 29. Yea we cut the stern off and added 4 ft to the boat. I love doing projects like this. It’s the ones that people say you can’t do that it’ll never be right that I love to do anyways and prove that we can do it and it’ll be just as good if not better than before!💪 big or small we fix em all as pops liked to say! We are also doing this project for/with an amazing local retired boat builder which I really enjoy having him stop by check things out and spit ideas back and fourth and hear some stories he has from his journey to where he is today!
