Our adventure travel collection includes treasured classic destinations, off-the-beaten-path adventures, and closer-to-home escapes. We are a women-owned and women-run company founded in 1982 by travel pioneer Susan Eckert. In 2016, Judi Wineland and

her two daughters, Nicole and Erica, purchased the company, ensuring the spirit of AdventureWomen continues forward. In 1978, Judi was one of the first women to launch and run an adventure travel company, Overseas Adventure Travel. A few years later, she founded Tanzanian safari operator Thomson Safaris and subsequently created Thomson Treks, Thomson Family Adventures, and Thomson Collection. Judi, her daughters, passionate staff, and a worldwide Ambassador team have led AdventureWomen to the forefront of women’s adventure travel.

Did you know AdventureWomen had a trip to Iceland for the 2026 total solar eclipse?

Our guests watched as day briefly turned to night against Iceland’s otherworldly landscape. Beyond the eclipse, they kayaked along the coast and ventured inside one of Iceland’s largest lava caves. They also got to meet friendly goats before relaxing in naturally heated geothermal waters.

AdventureWomen is proudly run by women, for women. Each year, our Boston-based staff heads out on a summer adventure of our own!

This year, we gathered for brunch before joining the “Remember the Ladies” walking tour through Boston led by . Although we call this city home, we spent the afternoon learning more about the remarkable women who helped shape the region.

The day was a meaningful reminder of what has guided AdventureWomen for more than 40 years: curiosity, connection, and the joy of exploring alongside other women.

We are a relationship company built on thoughtful details, shared experiences, and the personal care that comes from a close-knit team.
