Planning Glacier for 2027?

We’re thoughtfully preparing the next Three Bear Basecamp season.

Because 3BB remains our family home, we welcome only 12 guest stays each year. That limited season allows us to prepare the home personally, help guests think through their Glacier plans & preserve the quiet, thoughtful experience we want each stay to have.

We’re currently reviewing dates, rates & minimum-stay requirements before opening the 2027 calendar.

We haven’t set the official opening date yet, but we’ll share it here once everything is ready.

In the meantime, messages are always welcome about possible dates, your group or the kind of Glacier experience you’re planning. You may also use Vrbo’s Contact Host option to reach us through the listing.

Interest can be noted, although dates cannot be held or reserved before the calendar officially opens.

Such a fascinating look @ Haystack Falls & nearly 100 years of Going-to-the-Sun Road history!

Hey! It’s History Friday!

This week we're comparing photos of the Haystack Creek Culvert in Glacier National Park. Showing what the site looked like before construction began in 1926, shortly after completion in 1928, and what it looks like today, nearly 100 years later in 2026! In 1925, the National Park Service partnered with the Bureau of Public Roads to build a scenic highway across the park that would provide visitors access to the mountains while preserving the natural landscape. As construction progressed on the west side of the park, engineers needed a way to carry the road across Haystack Creek, a steep mountain stream that forms the picturesque Haystack Falls. To solve this challenge, they designed and built the Haystack Creek Culvert in 1926, making it one of the earliest structures completed along the road.

To blend with the rugged mountain scenery, the structure was built with concrete and faced with native stone masonry. The creek flows through the culvert beneath the roadway before continuing down the mountainside toward McDonald Creek. As one of about seventeen historic masonry structures along the Going-to-the-Sun Road, the Haystack Creek Culvert remains an excellent example of how engineers combined practical design with conservation, ensuring that the road fit naturally into Glacier National Park’s spectacular landscape.

🚗 Going‑to‑the‑Sun Road Opening Update
The full length of Going‑to‑the‑Sun Road is expected to open to motorized vehicles on Monday, June 22 for the 2026 summer season. Rockfalls or other natural events may delay the opening, as conditions can change quickly.

🚴 Full Length of Going-to-the-Sun Road Open to Bicyclists
Bicyclists can bike the full length of Going-to-the-Sun Road beginning today, June 18 and extending through June 21, before the road opens to vehicle traffic. As we prepare for opening, bicyclists should watch for administrative traffic beyond the vehicle closure, especially on Thursday and Friday, June 18–19.

🔔 Bicycling Safety Reminders

• Always wear a helmet

• Maintain safe speed and control

• Bicyclists must follow the same rules as motor vehicles

• Bring a headlamp for early morning or evening rides

• Never leave food unattended

• Mount and dismount e‑bikes carefully—battery weight adds 20+ lbs

• Only Class 1 pedal‑assist e‑bikes (≤750 watts) are allowed

• Carry and know how to use bear spray

• Check tire pressure and bring tools for repairs

🅿️ Parking Expectations
Visitors should only park in designated parking spaces throughout the park.

🌄 Visitor information services and the Glacier National Park Conservancy bookstore will not be available at the Logan Pass Visitor Center until June 22. Restrooms will be open. Bicyclists riding before June 22 should plan accordingly.
