Yesterday's J-1 Welcome Event was a tremendous success, bringing together students and sponsor organizations to help our international students feel welcomed and prepared for their summer in Ocean City.

A special thank you to Residence Inn for graciously hosting the event and providing beverages for our guests. We also extend our appreciation to the many sponsor organizations who attended and represented their organizations, offering valuable resources and information to help J-1 students get acclimated to the area and make the most of their experience.

Thank you to the OCMD Hospitality Association for providing pizza for attendees, helping create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. We are also grateful to Intrax and United Work and Travel for donating the bicycles that were raffled off during the event—an exciting and practical gift that will help students navigate Ocean City throughout the summer.

The J-1 Welcome Event is an important tradition that connects students with the community and the resources they need to succeed. Each summer, J-1 students play a vital role in supporting Ocean City’s seasonal workforce, contributing their talents, energy, and cultural diversity to local businesses and helping ensure a successful tourism season.

We are proud to welcome these students to Ocean City and thank all of our partners and sponsors for making this event possible. We wish our J-1 participants a safe, rewarding, and memorable summer!

Great afternoon at Mid-Day Mingle on Thursday!

Great news for contractors, employers, and future HVAC-R professionals!

Registration is now open for the HVAC-R Apprenticeship Program through July 14.

This program is a valuable opportunity for local contractors to recruit and train talent, partner with local schools, and access state grants for training expenses. For apprentices, the program offers evening classes two nights a week and the opportunity to earn an automatic Maryland HVAC-R license upon completion.

Whether you’re a contractor looking to grow your workforce or a jobseeker ready to start a career in the trades, this is a great opportunity to get connected.
