Hey gang, All is well at 2DB other than some computer problems that are keeping me from posting? First summer in 19 years that I have spent entirely in Vermont! I do miss Brooklin, Maine, but Lake Champlain and local cycling are keeping me going. Deep into my 27th Caledonia build, and about to distract myself with 500 square feet of custom quarried Vermont slate floor tile! May has been rather dynamic here in the hills, but I believe Spring is here. I'm on a string of three days without building a fire in the shop woodstove, my summer tires are on the car,the sugar maples in my yard popping and my Annapolis Wherry is on the trailer and poised for an outing.

Here are some pics of a freshly painted Annapolis Wherry. This is the one that recently received a new transom and sheer plank repairs. She'll soon return to Lake Winnipesaukee.

The paint scheme is evocative of an old-school fishing lodge livery boat (to me at least). The Kirby Paint colors are Irish Green, Yellow and Light Gray.

Even here at Two Daughters Boatworks we can arrange curbside pick-up. This boat left here yesterday hitched to a car with Ohio plates. I was sad not to be able to do the traditional Lake Champlain launch and demo, but happy to see folks with their new boat. Bon voyage!

Everywhere I turn there is something that wants a coat of paint. These are the Core Sound 17 hatch covers alongside the rebuilt and rerigged masts. The adjacent Annapolis Wherry is primed and sanded and awaiting a delivery from George Kirby.

Here is a new project that I have just moved into the shop. It is a Core Sound 17 in need of mast repairs and a paint job. I built the 20' version of this Graham Byrnes design quite a few years ago and really liked the boat. Spacious, fast, lots of storage, beachable....all the good things. The paint has been ordered, I pressure washed it last Friday. I've removed those things that would be in the way, documented and removed the rigging, and blocked it up to a good working height. Let the sanding begin!

January's tree shattered wherry has returned! My friend Jeff Nagle did a really lovely paint job for us, using Kirby paints. We chose to paint the interior to hide the rather significant surgical scars, and I am very pleased with the results. The owners hope to slip across the river from NH this weekend to retrieve their yacht.

I've completed the repairs needed for this Annapolis Wherry. If I look at it from one corner it was all small scale and pretty simple. Standing in the opposite corner I realize that this little project took about 25 years of accumulated insight, skills and tools, I've captioned the individual photos with thoughts and details that might help in your shops.
