Before Sofar was Sofar, there was one aircraft and an idea.

In 2019, Pierre P. Lafond started building Sofar at Westchester County Airport with a single Pilatus PC 12.

Building a Part 135 operation from scratch meant figuring things out as they came. The aircraft, the operations, the team, and everything needed to build a company around the way private aviation should work.

That first PC 12 became the foundation for what Sofar is today.

The fleet has grown since then. The focus on doing things properly, staying responsive, and putting the client first hasn’t.

The aircraft that started it all.

When Sofar began in 2019, the fleet was just one aircraft: a Pilatus PC 12.

Known for its versatility and efficiency, the PC 12 offers a different approach to private aviation and was the perfect aircraft to start building Sofar around.

Seven years later, the fleet has grown considerably, but the idea remains the same: choosing the right aircraft for the journey and giving each client a travel experience built around what they actually need.

At Sofar, the PC-12 is where our story began. It was the first aircraft in our fleet and the foundation of the company we continue to build today.

We’re also happy to welcome four legged passengers on board. 🐶
