The absolute peak of adventure and history meet in the anchient ruins of Peru. šŸ‡µšŸ‡Ŗ

Most importantly, the summer tourist swarms haven’t descended on the mountains just yet either.

āœ…Why May is the best time:
1. Machu Picchu: This is the month for the iconic shot. Visibility is 10/10 as the mist clears and grass turns a vibrant green. It’s also the closest you’ll get to having the Lost City to yourself before the June/July rush. šŸ“ø

2. Cusco: The city is buzzing but breathable. The cobblestone streets and markets are at their most charming, and the nightlife is hitting its stride right before the peak season madness. šŸ•ŗšŸ›ļø

3. A masterclass for your tasebuds: May is harvest season in the highlands, so you’re getting the freshest ingredients in Lima (the world’s #1 food city) and the most authentic ā€œPachamancaā€ (earth oven) feasts in the mountains. šŸ½ļøšŸ˜‹

āŒ Unskipable advice:
The Altitude: It doesn’t matter how fit you are; 3,400m hits different. If you don’t spend your first two days in the Sacred Valley or Cusco chilling with coca tea, you’ll spend your vacation with a migraine.šŸ’Š

The Permit Hunt: If you want to hike the classic Inca Trail, you need to book 6 months out. If you’re just deciding to go now, look into the Salkantay Trek—it’s more rugged, more scenic, and doesn’t sell out as fast. šŸŽŸļø

The Sun is a Laser: At this altitude, the sun will cook you in 15 minutes, even if it feels ā€œcoolā€ out. Wear high-SPF or cover up... or prepare to look like a lobster in your Machu Picchu photos. ā˜€ļøšŸ¦ž
