60 Years of Partnership, Celebrated Through Art!

Today, we celebrated the dedication of the German Air Force 60th Anniversary Mural at Wichita Falls Regional Airport!

Created by North Texas artist Lindsey Jenkins, the mural reflects the history of training and international cooperation at Sheppard Air Force Base. Since 1966, generations of German pilots and their families have become part of the Wichita Falls community. This mural recognizes those connections!

Commissioned by the City of Wichita Falls and administered by the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture, the mural is now on display inside the airport terminal.

Thank you to our City and military partners, the artist, and everyone who helped bring this project to life!

Members of our Regional FBO and Airport team had the opportunity to grab a quick photo with Governor Greg Abbott during his visit to Wichita Falls.

The Alliance, in partnership with the City of Wichita Falls, is pleased to announce Lindsey Jenkins as the selected artist for the German Air Force 60th Anniversary Mural at Wichita Falls Regional Airport.

Lindsey is a North Texas artist based in Graham, Texas. The mural will be painted inside the airport and is expected to be completed by mid-October.

We’re digging into the archives again, and this time we need your help!

We don’t have a date for this aerial view of Wichita Falls Regional Airport, but there are plenty of clues hiding in the photo. The terminal, the parking lot, the aircraft on the ramp, even the surrounding airfield all tell a piece of the story.

Before modern terminals and jet bridges, this was the front door to air travel in Wichita Falls. The Wichita Falls Air Terminal welcomed generations of passengers and visitors, each with a story of their own.

Apparently Braniff International used to fly out of Wichita Falls Regional Airport… and some of us only learned that after finding this photo 😅

The terminal may look a little different these days, but it is always fun digging through the airport’s history and seeing how travel has changed over the years.

Who remembers the Braniff days at the airport?
