A client asked me today:
“Is a balcony really worth the extra money on an Alaska cruise?”
My answer:
If there's ONE destination where I'm much more likely to tell you to consider spending the extra money on a balcony...
it's Alaska.
Not because you need one.
You absolutely don't.
But Alaska is one of the few cruises where the scenery outside your cabin is part of the destination.
Coffee + pajamas + your own balcony + Alaska sailing past you?
That's a pretty compelling argument. 😂

If Greece has been sitting on your bucket list, this is such a fun way to do it. Roundtrip Athens.
Virgin Voyages has a 7-night, adults-only sailing roundtrip from Athens June 27–July 4, 2027, and the itinerary is GOOD:
🇬🇷 Athens
🌅 Santorini
🏛️ Rhodes
🇹🇷 Bodrum, Turkey
🌊 Day at sea
💙 Mykonos — with an overnight stay
Back to Athens
That overnight in Mykonos is a huge plus because you actually get to experience the island after the day-trippers leave instead of rushing back to the ship.
And because it’s Virgin Voyages, it’s 18+ only. No kids. No waterslides. No character breakfasts. 😂
Just great food, nightlife, gorgeous ports, and a very different cruise vibe.

If you’ve been thinking about Greece but don’t want to pack and unpack through multiple hotels, this is one I’d absolutely look at.

That doesn't mean it's a bad resort.
It might just be a bad resort for YOU.
A resort filled with activities, music and nightlife might have thousands of five-star reviews…
…but if you told me you want quiet, romantic and relaxing?
I'm not sending you there. 😂
The opposite is true too.
If you're taking teenagers who want activities from morning until night, that gorgeous secluded resort everyone calls “peaceful” might have your kids asking when they're going home by day three.
This is why I don't really believe in a universal “best resort.”
The question is:
What's the best resort for THESE travelers?
And figuring that out is one of my favorite parts of this job

One of the weird things about doing this job for a while is that I can't look at a vacation normally anymore. 😂

You show me a gorgeous resort and I'm immediately wondering:
How far is it from the airport?
What's the beach actually like?
Are the recent reviews still good?
What's included?
Is that room REALLY oceanfront or are we leaning over the balcony and squinting between two buildings to find the ocean? 😂
You show me a cruise and I'm looking at the itinerary, port times, cabin location, what's included, and whether there's another sailing that makes more sense.
You show me an international itinerary and I'm looking at how much time you're actually going to spend enjoying the trip versus hauling luggage from one place to another.
It's probably ruined me as a normal traveler forever. 😂
But it's also one of my favorite parts of what I do.
I don't just want something to look good in a proposal. I want it to make sense once you're actually THERE.

Cabin location can matter almost as much as cabin type.

What's above you? What's below you? How far are you from the elevators? Are you prone to motion sickness?

These are the little things experienced cruisers know to look at—but first-time cruisers usually don't.

🏔️🚢 Spending 2 weeks in Alaska combining an incredible land adventure with an Alaska cruise

🌴 A couple escaping to a beautiful all-inclusive in Punta Cana

🚢 Clients sailing on Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest ship

🥂 Newlyweds celebrating their honeymoon aboard Celebrity Cruises

And I LOVE that no two trips on this list look alike.

Some want adventure. Some want romance. Some want to see as much of the world as possible. And some want somebody to hand them a frozen drink while they sit on a beach and do absolutely nothing for a week. 😂

THAT is one of my favorite things about this job.

There isn't one “perfect” vacation. There's the perfect vacation for the people taking it.

When you're comparing two vacations, don't just compare the total price.

Look at what's actually included.

A $3,500 vacation can sometimes be a much better value than a $3,000 vacation once you start adding:

✈️ Flights
🚗 Airport transfers
🍹 Drinks
🍽️ Dining
💵 Gratuities
📶 Wi-Fi
🎟️ Activities or excursions
🧳 Baggage fees

This is especially true with cruises and all-inclusive resorts. The number at the bottom of the screen doesn't always tell the whole story.

I always tell people: **compare the vacation you're actually going to take — not just the starting price.**
