🇺🇸 A couple of weeks ago, we had the incredible honor of welcoming members of the Sloulin family back to Williston for a very special week celebrating the legacy of Wesley and Kermit Sloulin.

The Sloulin name is deeply woven into the history of aviation in our community. Wesley and Kermit both served their country during World War II and ultimately gave their lives in service. Their legacy lived on through the airport that bore their name, Sloulin Field International Airport, and continues today through our Sloulin Terminal at XWA!

During their visit, the Sloulin family attended the ribbon cutting for the brand-new Sloulin Elementary School, built on the former airport property. The school carries the Sloulin name proudly, with the “Aviators” as their mascot and incredible aviation-themed touches and tributes to Wesley and Kermit throughout the building.

We were also honored to welcome the family to the airport, where the Military Affairs Committee - Williston Basin unveiled a beautiful new display honoring the Sloulin brothers and their service and sacrifice. We are incredibly grateful to the committee for helping preserve and share their story for generations to come.

From the airport that once carried their name, to the terminal that carries it today, to a school filled with young Aviators, the Sloulin legacy continues to be a part of Williston.

We are proud to remember Wesley and Kermit, grateful to their family for spending this special week with us, and honored to help carry their story forward. 🇺🇸✈️

Huge thank you to the folks who are working to make the best out of a tough time!

There are some excellent people in our community making the very best of a tough situation. If you were planning to attend the airshow, please consider heading over to the high school to patronize the food trucks that are missing out on today's event!
