Remembering Nick Thierjung — A Friend and Former Member of the NXL Family

I first met Nick Thierjung in the early ’90s, and I still remember that interview. This gentle giant walked in looking like he’d just rolled out of a dance club. Little did I know that we’d still be laughing about that more than 30 years later.

Nick was a hell of a worker, a phenomenal load booker, funny as heck and just a good dude. I hired him at several companies over the years I worked for and brought him to NXL when we started in the early 2000s. He eventually moved on to an opportunity on the asset side, but we always stayed in touch.

We’d laugh, talk about the old days, and bitch about how much the industry had changed. More than anything, I considered Nick a friend, and I’ll miss those conversations.

Rest easy, Nick—the gentle giant and crazy son of a bitch I’ll always remember. I’m glad our paths crossed.
