The one thing that almost all pilots love to do is introduce someone to the world of aviation and take them for their first plane ride. This kid had been wanting to ride in an airplane for as long as he knew what they were. He is an avid remote control airplane flyer and even flies in RC competitions, but he had never been in a real one. It was fun to see his face when the wheels left the ground. However he had no interest in doing any of the same stunts in a real airplane like he does with his RC plane.

For an aviation enthusiast, getting to check out some of these modern jets when they come in is exciting for us, like this beautiful Phenom 300 that came in yesterday. But the questions we get from the public show that everyone gets excited when they see these private jets coming in or out.
Here are some of the questions we get: Who’s private jet was that at the airport? Where was that jet going to? Where did it come from? Why was there a jet at the airport? Who was in the private jet that landed today?
Some of the questions we don’t know the answer to. Some of the questions we know the answer but have been asked not to tell. And most of the time it’s not as interesting as what people like to think it is. The question that we can answer is, yes it’s fast and no you can’t fly it.

Yes they are still out spraying the fields. You may see a helicopter and you may see an airplane. The airport does not hire them, we do not dispatch them or have any control over what, when or where they are spraying. If you have an issue with any of them you will need to contact the farmer that hired them. Do not call the airport to complain about a low flying airplane, there is nothing we can do. If you want to file a complaint you will need to contact the FAA.

Last night the airport had our first “Hangar Block Party”. Local pilots along with current and past hangar renters all got together for food, fun and socializing. Looked over each other planes, hangar decorations, talked about aviation and past and future airplane travels. Then we enjoyed the amazing fireworks show from Hummel Drive-In (we gathered up some donation money and took it over to them). If you haven’t been to their fireworks show you are missing out.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the airport for our “block party” and thanks to the Hummels for the show.

We had a great turn out for the 75th Annual Fly-In Breakfast on Saturday. Served over 350 breakfasts, had 35 airplanes come in, gave out over 200 toy airplanes and gave over 100 airplane rides. We had a medical helicopter stop in and gave folks a chance to check that out, had remote control airplanes on display and RC helicopters performing some aerobatics.
What are some things you would like to see for next year?

Have you ever seen a remote control airplane that is a 50% scale to a full size airplane? Come out Saturday June 13 to the fly-in breakfast and check this thing out. The Anderson Extreme Flyers will be here with handouts for kids and remote control simulator and may even do some remote control flying demonstrations with planes and helicopters.

We are a week and a half away from the Fly-In breakfast. This is the 75th Fly-In that we have had. How many have you been to? We see a lot of the same people each year and would love to know how many years you have been coming and we would love to see some new faces.
If you are flying in make sure to take advantage of our already low priced fuel and fill up with even cheaper fuel at cost.

Unfortunately tonight we have to cancel the Lights and Flights and the makeup day for tomorrow will not work also due to the cold. We apologize but Mother Nature is the boss.

There are so many cool things that happen at the airport that people never hear about. Today a pilot wanted to stop in to see our new hangers because he is planning to start keeping his airplane here (yes he has an airplane also). So he decided to fly his helicopter in to check things out. And he decided to give a few rides while he was here. Did you know that a-lot of pilots enjoy taking people for rides, especially if they know it’s your first time. If you have never been in a helicopter you should try it sometime. It’s a really cool experience.
