Because the district is dozens of drivers short, many remaining drivers are executing consolidated or tiered routing. A single bus might be assigned to finish Route A, loop back geographically to pick up students from a completely vacant Route B, and then drop off at the same school. To someone watching the map on the Edulog bus tracking app it looks like the bus is driving right past a neighborhood, turning around, or taking a massive, inefficient detour.

This is the "Double-Back" Effect caused by Route Consolidation and it’s wasting time and money.
