Meet Max, one of our newest instructors. Max started instructing at the base in July of this year. He received his ASES in March. His favorite thing about instructing at Brown’s has been, in just a short amount of time, being able to fly with a wide variety of pilots. He is very grateful for this opportunity and to learn from their past flying experiences. A fun fact about Max is he played volleyball in highschool and college.
You’ll find him spending his free time with his dog, out on his boat, fly fishing, or doing anything outdoors.

From record-setting heights to the waters of Winter Haven.

Today, Brown’s Seaplane Base celebrated a milestone with our inaugural Multi-Engine Sea checkride—and we couldn’t have asked for a more fitting first applicant. Congratulations to Doug Matthews, who holds the world record for the highest altitude attained in a P-51 Mustang, on adding another accomplishment to an already remarkable aviation career.

The next chapter of multi-engine seaplane training at Brown’s has officially begun, so make sure to contact us to start your training!

From opposite sides of the pond to the lakes of Central Florida. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧✈️🇺🇸

We had the pleasure of welcoming a Scottish and British couple to Brown’s Seaplane Base while they were vacationing in Florida. They took the opportunity to knock the rust off, get current, and enjoy some time back on the water.

No matter where you’re from, there’s something special about reconnecting with the spirit of seaplane flying. Thanks for making Brown’s part of your adventure, and we hope to see you both back on the lake soon!

Some of the best aviation memories are shared across generations.

Thomas and his son, Sebastian, traveled all the way from Austria to experience seaplane flying at Brown’s Seaplane Base. Thomas is already a pilot, while Sebastian is working toward earning his private pilot certificate next year.

We asked them to share a few thoughts about their visit, what surprised them most, and what made the experience so special.
