Jack Brown's Seaplane Base

Since 1963, we have trained over 28,000 seaplane pilots from all over the world.

Our "Land of 1000 Lakes" allows you to experience the last great freedom in flying. There are no concrete slabs that dictate your landing, no noise from radios and no worry about "busting" an airspace. You will be able to devote your time to the "Back to Basics" of flying (stick and rudder and head out of the cockpit). There is no doubt your land plane flying skills will be improved after flying our seaplanes.

Favorite Part About Working at Browns:
I love the seaplanes and the challenges they bring with keeping them flying.

What He Does for Fun:
Most weekends you can find me on the boat or working on my own airplane

Pilot Status:
I’m a commercial seaplane pilot working on CFI at Kingsky in Lakeland.

April 4, 2019
(5 years full-time, 1 year part-time)

Favorite Part About Working at the base:
Building planes.

Fun Fact:
He started as an apprentice at Browns’s and now works full-time on jets, while still doing fabric work part-time here.

Pilot Status:
Not a pilot (but keeps all of ours flying)

Hi! I’m Chloe, the weekend receptionist and I help run our social media. Here’s a little bit about me:
-I started working at the base in December 2024.
-My favorite part about working here is connecting with people across all areas of aviation.
-I’m currently working on my CFI rating.
-When I’m not flying or at work I enjoy running, scuba diving and anything else on the water!

Plus, our Beaver will be flying 30-minute air tours over the beautiful Winter Haven Chain of Lakes.

Meet Throne, one of our part time instructors here at the base!😎☀️✈️
• When he started instructing:
He began instructing in May 2023.
• When he earned his seaplane rating:
He earned his seaplane rating in February 2022.
• His favorite thing about working at Jack Brown’s:
To meet and fly with a wide variety of pilots who descend down onto Brown’s from all different walks of life, airframes, and continents.
• Fun fact:
If he’s not flying a seaplane, he’s likely flying an Airbus, a C-130 in the Air National Guard (where he met his wife), or her Aeronca Champ.
• What he does for fun:
In his free time, you’ll find him and his wife on a date at Disney or Universal.
• When he got his seaplane rating:
He earned his seaplane rating in February 2022.
