JUST BOOKED 😲
This couple enjoyed Alaska so much that they decided they needed to go back in 2027 and, I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to put this amazing 17-day experience into words! This itinerary is the best of both worlds as they will spend the first half traveling through the heart of Alaska, visiting Denali and the wilderness lodges and then finish with a week-long Princess cruise through Alaska's glaciers and Inside Passage. Just take a peek at the maps below to get a feel for everywhere they will get to explore...INCREDIBLE!! I think we can all agree that they'll have a wonderful time on this adventure!

This amazing trip wasn't in my original 2026 plans, but an incredible opportunity presented itself and I couldn't pass it up. I'll start with exploring Rome and then will set sail on Odyssey of the Seas with Royal Caribbean soaking up the history and beauty of the Mediterranean. I hope you're ready to follow along!

Due to the time change, I'll be Out of the Office from August 14-23 and my responses may be delayed. My clients that are traveling during that time know how to reach me and I have an awesome back up agent who can assist in case of travel issues. If you are looking to plan future travel, let's get that set up this week! Otherwise feel free to email me at [email protected] and I'll respond as soon as I can.

Travel Tip Tuesday!
This is something I've really changed my perspective about in the past few years. I used to think that we didn't need to do tours because we could figure it out ourselves. Now I have a lot of respective for the information and expertise that the tour operators have and share with travelers. And the great thing is that it doesn't always have to be expensive. Here's two great examples...
1. We did a walking tour in Lyon, France with a local who had a degree in history and loved sharing about his city. It cost us $6 per person and it was so memorable!
2. I recently had clients in Hawaii and they used Shaka Guide Audio Tours to listen to someone narrating their drive. This was less than $25.

Where are you going in the future that having the assistance of a tour operator would enhance your trip?

We are back home! Travel days are always an adventure and yesterday was no exception. I woke up to a text from Delta that our flight had been delayed for an hour and that hour turned into a little bit longer, but thankfully we made it out of Seattle and to MSP where we met 20 other members of our group for our Lamers shuttle back to Wisconsin Rapids. Hitting a deer on the ride home wasn't on yesterday's bucket list, but what are you going to do πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ So thankful to be home safely!

If you know me, you know I'm a hot weather person so I was unsure about how I would feel about Alaska and I'm happy to say that it far exceeded my expectations. It's simply stunning and I don't really have the words to describe it. As I was reflecting on my favorite part of the trip, I think it was the morning that we were up early to sail towards the glacier. It was so quiet and serene with the mountains all around us. The fog and the color of the water truly made it something that I can't explain and the pictures just don't do it justice.

I added a few of my favorite pictures from the week below and a huge thanks to all of you for following along this week. I hope you enjoyed being a part of the adventure. If you, or anyone you know, is thinking about Alaska in the future...just reach out and I'd love to share my experiences with you!

July 31 - Sea Day
After our busy days in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, we were ready for a relaxing day at sea. I have my favorite place to get coffee and enjoy the view and the wifi was working so that was a great start to the morning. Brian found that one of the restaurants was open as a quiet place for people to read and play games so we spent several hours in there. Our afternoon was spent listening to music around the ship and enjoying time with friends. One fun part of traveling with a group is that you can always find people to sit and visit with. I've really enjoyed hearing stories of different excursions and their dining experiences. We ended our evening at Sabatini's for an Italian meal. They had mushroom risotto and limoncello spritz which are both favorites of mine. The tiramisu was delicious and I'll put a video in the comments below. All in all a great day!

July 30 - Skagway
Well, yesterday was quite the day for me. In high school I learned that I have a fear of heights, but in the past few years I really thought it had improved. The White Pass Scenic Railway said, "Lady, you were WRONG!" Apparently being able to ride Soarin' at EPCOT and sitting in the 400 section of American Family Field has nothing on riding a train up the side of the mountains. I spent the first part of the trip staring intently out the window where I could see land and the second part of the trip with my head in Brian's lap and holding on for dear life certain that I was going to plummet to an early death. I can laugh about it now, but in the moment I was terrified. The good news is that the ride down didn't bother me nearly as much (makes zero sense, I know!) and while I certainly wasn't looking over the edge, I was at least able to enjoy the view a bit. Below is a picture with a red arrow that shows the bridge we went over. No wonder I was petrified 😱

Thankfully the rest of the day was stress-free...the weather was gorgeous and I got some time in the sun on the pool deck and then Leeli and I went to Puppies on the Piazza where we heard from Ryan Redington who won the Iditarod in 2023 and whose grandfather actually started the race in 1973.

Our dinner was at The Catch by Rudi and the food was excellent, but I think I was exhausted last night and headed to bed soon after dinner 😴😴
