We are replenishing stone dust from Center Street to Fernald and Clark Road to Route 16. We have tractors moving the stone dust we need help clearing leaves, raking and tamping.

Cotton Valley Trail Committee, Inc. started stone dust replenishment between Albee Beach and Sand Box Lane. Great crew making a difference: Dave Wing, John Amrich, Mike Pepin, Bob Sterndale, Trish Duffy, Kathy Rankin and Dave Denby! CVTC will be repen*shing stone dust between Center St and Fernald Crossing over the next several weeks. Please thank all the volunteers improving the Trail.

CVTC FREE “Bicycle Bell Day”, Saturday August 16
10:00-2:00 at Fernald Station
The Cotton Valley Trail Committee, Inc. (CVTC) will be installing free bicycle bells for the first 200 bicyclists that stop by Fernald Station.
There will be free hot dogs, water and chips; T-Shirts for sale; live music by Franz Haase, the famous Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies by Louise, and Free Bicycle Bells installed.
This event will be held along with the Cotton Valley Rail Trail Club’s (CVRTC) Open House. The Open House welcomes everyone who would like to learn more about how the Cotton Valley Rail Trail operates. Volunteers will be discussing trail infrastructure, their role in maintaining the Trail, demonstrating equipment and answering questions.
Come learn about the 3 new bicycle “Fixtations” to be installed in September along the Trail. The CVTC will also be encouraging trail safety for all users of the multi-purpose Cotton Valley Rail Trail, starting with Slow Down! Say Hello!
The CVTC wishes to thank the Gorrell Family Foundation for its donation, that provided the funding for the Bicycle Bells, Safety Literature and bicycle Fixtations.
CVTC is an all-volunteer organization that maintains the Cotton Valley Rail Trail within the NH State Right of Way. CVTC just won a RTP25 grant to cover 80% of a new tractor that will fit between the rails. We will need a shed for the Tractor, and additional funds for the Porta Potties and continued trail maintenance. If you use the Trail, CVTC would appreciate your support and donations. Behind the Rails: CVRTC Hosts Open House in Wolfeboro
WOLFEBORO, NH – Whether you’re a rail trail regular or have always wanted to learn more about the magic behind the tracks, mark your calendar for the Cotton Valley Rail Trail Club (CVRTC) Open House on Saturday, August 16th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 4 Fernald Crossing in Wolfeboro.
This free, family-friendly event is your chance to go behind the scenes and meet the dedicated volunteers who maintain and operate the Cotton Valley Rail Trail. Learn what it takes to keep this beloved trail system in top shape year-round, from the specialized equipment and railcars to the people who keep them moving.
This year, due to unique circumstances, rides will not be offered. While we know this may be a disappointment, the club is actively working to bring public rides back in 2026. In the meantime, there are still plenty of great reasons to attend!
At this year’s event, you can:
* Get up close with maintenance railcars and trail equipment
* Chat with the operators and ask questions about how it all works
* Enjoy live music, free hot dogs, ice water, and chips
* Watch a video loop of club activities and trail highlights
* Learn how you can get involved and help support trail upkeep
* Snap a photo in one of the iconic railcars
* Free Bicycle Bells installed to first 200 riders
