EZ Ride EZ Ride’s services are a one stop for all your transportation needs that include carpools, vanpool

In the aftermath of the gas crisis, the Meadowlands Transportation Brokerage Corporation was incorporated in 1983 as a not for profit, public-private partnership to improve access, reduce congestion and promote economic growth by working with business and government agencies to address the employee commuting challenges in Northern New Jersey. The charter members were the Port Authority of New York

& New Jersey, New Jersey Turnpike Authority, New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, New Jersey Meadowlands Commission, New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Meadowlands Transportation Brokerage Corporation did business as “Meadowlink” and was the first Transportation Management Association (TMA) in the state of New Jersey. The Meadowlink name tied the agency’s identity to the geographic area around the Meadowlands. As the agency expanded to an area beyond the Meadowlands, it began using the name EZ Ride, which shifted attention from its geographic base to the service it provided. The EZ Ride name stuck and in 2005, it became the primary brand identification of the Meadowlands Transportation Brokerage Corporation. EZ Ride’s services are convenient and cost effective because they are integrated – a one stop for all your transportation needs that include carpools, vanpools, shuttles, transportation for older adults and people with disabilities, and bike and pedestrian programs. Today, EZ Ride manages New Jersey’s largest carpool, vanpool and shuttle services for businesses, colleges, universities, and municipalities. EZ Ride operates a mixed fleet of minibuses, vans, and sedans that provide more than 700,000 passenger trips each year.

New data from Europe is challenging the narrative around e-bikes and scooters.

As micromobility use continues to surge, injury rates are actually declining in Europe.

Between 2024–2025:
• Shared e-bike trips increased by 72%
• Total e-bike & e-scooter kilometers travelled grew by 49% and 14% respectively
• Injury risk for e-bikes fell by 18%
• Shared e-scooter injury risk per million kilometers travelled fell by 1%

The findings suggest that safer technology, better infrastructure, rider education, speed caps, and geofencing can make micromobility safer at scale.

This is an important reminder that investing in sustainable transportation and safer streets go hand in hand. Cities don’t have to choose between innovation and safety, they can build both.

May is officially Bike Month and New Jersey Walk & Bike to School Month! Governor Mikie Sherrill has proclaimed May 2026 as a time to celebrate safer, healthier, and more active communities across the state.

From Bike to Work Week (May 11–17) to Bike to Work Day on May 15, schools and towns throughout New Jersey will host rides, walk-to-school events, bike rodeos, and safety programs all month long.

Walking and biking to school help students stay active, focused, and ready to learn, while also reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and making our streets safer for everyone.

Interested in organizing an event in your community? Reach out to your local Transportation Management Association (TMA) and Safe Routes to School coordinator to get involved!

Have you ever seen a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB)? RRFBs consist of two, rectangular-shaped yellow indications, each with a light-emitting diode (LED)-array-based light source. RRFBs flash with an alternating high frequency when activated to improve the visibility of pedestrians with drivers.

RRFBs can reduce crashes by 47% and increase motorist yielding rates up to 98%.

Wearing a bike helmet is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself on every ride.

Across New Jersey, some municipal police are rewarding riders who do the right thing, “observing” helmet use by kids and handing out vouchers for a free slice of pizza or ice cream!

It’s a fun idea with a serious message: Safety Matters.

Let’s set a good example for our young community members. Helmet on, every ride… and make sure it fits properly.
