Like father, like son.

Ben and James Peterson recently made their first trip together aboard the SEA ISLANDER, heading south toward Charleston.

For a lot of families in this industry, working on the water is more than a job. It's something passed down from one generation to the next: the knowledge, the stories, the long days, the pride and the love of being on the water.

Stevens Towing has been passed down through generations of our own family since 1913, so this one hits close to home.

Pretty special first trip for these two.

Don't wait until there's a storm on the map.

If you're responsible for a vessel during hurricane season, know where you're going before you need to go there.

Our Yonges Island Shipyard is ready to work with vessel owners and operators on hurricane docking and haul-out plans.

Make the plan now. Not when the forecast changes.

A summer internship should mean more than watching from the sidelines.

This summer, we welcomed three maritime students to our Yonges Island Shipyard where they gained hands-on experience alongside the crews and professionals who keep our shipyard running every day.

Daniel Gibbs | United States Merchant Marine Academy | Systems of Marine Engineering

Jack Elsten | United States Merchant Marine Academy | Marine Engineering & Shipyard Management

Sarina Edwards | Massachusetts Maritime Academy | Marine Engineering

Daniel plans to sail after graduation, while Jack plans to earn experience sailing on his Third Assistant Engineer license before eventually transitioning shoreside. Sarina is continuing her studies in marine engineering.

We're proud to give future maritime professionals an opportunity to learn on the job, ask questions, get their hands dirty, and work alongside people who have spent decades in the industry.

Thanks for spending your summer with us, Daniel, Jack, and Sarina. We look forward to seeing where your careers take you!

Good food. Good people. Pretty good way to spend an afternoon at the shipyard.

Our friends at Condustrial - North Charleston, SC recently treated the Stevens Towing crew to barbecue and a Lowcountry boil from locally owned Walker's Catering.

A chance to put down the tools, catch up, and enjoy some time together.

Thanks to Condustrial and Walker’s Catering for feeding the crew!
