💙 SIBSHOPS ARE BACK NEXT WEEK! 💙
We’re excited to announce that Connections SibShops are returning this fall! 🎉
And this year, we’re making room for even more siblings! We now have TWO age groups to better support children at different stages:
✨ Ages 7–10
✨ Ages 11–13

SibShops are special opportunities for brothers and sisters of children with disabilities, diagnoses, and/or unique health and developmental needs to connect with other kids who just “get it.” 💙

Through fun activities, conversation, games, dinner, and plenty of opportunities to connect, SibShops provide peer support and education within a recreational setting.

🎯 SibShops are NOT therapy. They are fun, supportive gatherings designed to celebrate the important role siblings play in their families.

📍 Where: Connections EIAS — 1601 South Queen Street, York
📅 When: Monthly during our Fall Series
💰 Cost: $45 for the three session series (includes dinner & a drink)
👧 Ages: 7–10 & 11–13

Our SibShop Facilitators are Certified SibShop Facilitators who have completed specialized training to support the unique experiences of siblings.

💙 October is AAC Awareness Month!

Communication doesn’t look the same for everyone...and that’s okay! AAC can give children another way to share what they’re thinking, what they need, what they want, and what makes them happy.

At Connections, we’re proud to support AAC in all its forms, from simple boards to high-tech devices. We love seeing kids use the tools that work best for them to communicate, play, connect, and be part of the moment. 🥰

✏️ Learning doesn’t have to feel like work!

Letter recognition, handwriting, and early literacy skills develop through so much more than simply sitting down and practicing letters over and over.

At Connections, we build learning into play, movement, creativity, and everyday experiences....because kids learn best when they’re engaged and having fun. 💙

This little guy is working hard on letter formation, but to him? He’s just playing and having a good time. 😉

Learning can be fun. It doesn’t have to be frustrating, boring, or miserable. That’s a big part of what we do here at Connections; helping children build skills while keeping the joy in learning. ✨

💙💛 October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! 💛💙

At Connections, we believe awareness is about more than a diagnosis. It’s about seeing the whole person, celebrating their strengths, and making sure everyone has the opportunity to belong, participate, learn, grow, and thrive.

This month, we’re celebrating the abilities, personalities, talents, and contributions of people with Down syndrome while continuing to promote inclusion, acceptance, and equal opportunities in our schools and communities.

This weekend, Connections will be at the YADSA Buddy Walk celebrating some of our favorite buddies! We can’t wait to walk, celebrate, and spend time with the amazing families and individuals who make our community so special. 🥰
