Every time someone tells me they booked their vacation online because they didn't want to be a bother or it's the same if I do it myself, a little part of my soul dies inside. 😭

Friend, you paid for the customer service, you just didn't use it! It was already included in the price. You don't have to pay me one cent - the company you book with pays me with the money they already wrapped in the price to cover a travel agency whether you use one or not.

Here's the thing: on many vacations, the supplier has already factored in the cost of selling that trip. Whether you book online, direct, or through a travel planner, those dollars are being spent somewhere.

The difference? When you work with me at Effortless Escapes Travel Agent, a portion of that money supports my LOCAL, small business that helps you choose the right destination, answers your questions, troubleshoots issues, and is there when travel plans don't go quite as expected. I never book a client and ghost them. Never have and never will.

When you book online or directly, that money stays with the big corporation running the website and you're left dealing with it all.

Either way, you're paying about the same price. Sometimes I'll find better pricing or know tips and tricks to save you money along the way or get you some extra credit on your account and sometimes booking directly with an all inclusive is a hundred bucks more than with an agent, if that. But, what happens when you have questions, need assistance, want to find the best beach club at a port, you book and then the price drops, you need help understanding dining/excursions/transfers/gratuities/show reservations, etc? You get to call a 1-800 number or hope chatgpt is correct. You book with me, you have my email, Whatsapp messenger for foreign contact, AND my personal cell phone number. And you didn't pay me a cent!

So if you're going to spend $5,000 on a vacation anyway, would you rather support a giant company that doesn't know your name, or a local business owner who is happy to help before, during, and after your trip?

Just something to think about the next time you're planning a getaway.
