TERMS OF REFERENCE Position Name: ENGLISH TRAINER/VOLUNTEER
Unit/Project: Communications training department.
Reports To: Project Director
Duration: 3 months (starting June 2026)
Working Time: Full-time.
Working Location: Ha Giang Adventure Office - Cao Banh

WORK CONTEXT: At Ha Giang Adventure, our team consists of experienced guides and community developers dedicated to advancing sustainable tourism in the region. As a company rooted in ethnic minority culture, we offer training opportunities to local community members looking to join our team. Our English communication trainer plays a crucial role in preparing our tour guides with the necessary language skills to effectively engage with our clients and partners. This role involves a diverse range of teaching methods, including in-person and online classes, as well as hands-on practice sessions, all aimed at creating the optimal learning environment for our trainees to enhance their English proficiency.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To educate young Vietnamese Ethnic minority individuals and impart them with essential English language skills.

Over the last decade the urban landscape of Ha Giang has significantly undergone improvements with the rise in tourism. The roads have never been smoother to travel by bike in many new areas. The treacherous road is no longer, traveling has never been this easy and accessible. While modernization is essential, preservation is highly valued, to maintain Ha Giang’s cultural heritage. We can still witness traditional architecture and local customs.

15 and 35 year old, Hmong people collecting rice crops in Bản Kẹp, Hà Giang. A tradition, centuries old, to grow all that you consume, year long working on the land, with community neighbors with most being relatives. Hà Giang, where the land is rich for those who are rewarded.

Pause for a few days, get up and go, and come back with a basket full of wisdom (and spice food).

We took a week off busy work, sleeping in a bus, flying, then eating spice food and flying again then motorbiking all over Thailand’s northern province of Mae Hong Son.

Lovely people we met, beautiful roads we were on. Rememeber to take some time off for yourself to welcome you again.
