🌊 Hsinbyume Pagoda – The White “Ocean Waves” Temple of Myanmar

Set beside the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River in Mingun, near Mandalay, Hsinbyume Pagoda (Myatheindan) is one of Myanmar’s most distinctive landmarks.

Built in 1816 by King Bagyidaw in memory of his wife, Princess Hsinbyume, the pagoda is famous for its brilliant-white, wave-like architecture. Its seven terraces represent the seven mountain ranges surrounding Mount Meru in Buddhist cosmology.

With its flowing curves and striking all-white design, Hsinbyume feels almost dreamlike — a beautiful blend of history, symbolism and architecture.

Nearby, Mingun is also home to the monumental Mingun Pahtodawgyi and the famous Mingun Bell, making the area a fascinating glimpse into Myanmar’s cultural heritage.
