My Tho is located in the Mekong Delta and only a two-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City – very popular for day tours for that reason. Here you can make beautiful boat trips on the Mekong River, visit small islands and taste the local life.

As with most destinations in the Mekong Delta, a boat trip is the best things to do in My Tho. My Tho is located on the mighty Mekong River, which has several branches with smaller rivers, which are then connected to each other by different channels. With a motorized boat you can travel great distances on the rivers and see a lot of the local river life, such as fishermen and boats that carry enormous amounts of fruit. Small traditional sampan boats row you through the smaller side channels through the palm forests.

When you sail from place to place you will see many fishermen along the way. The Mekong is known for large catfish, but there is also Tai Tuong (Elephant fish). This fish is actually farmed in huge tanks and is also found in the waters of the Delta.

Discovering local life can be perfectly combined with a boat trip. There are many small islands around My Tho that you can visit by boat. You can stop and walk around to meet the locals and learn about their daily life. Unicorn Island, for example, is a popular stop and there are more like Phoenix and Dragon island. On the islands you will find many fruit plantations for which the Mekong Delta is known. Here you can watch how the fruit is grown and you can try delicious seasonal fruit.

There are also many local factories and shops that produce their own products, such as the production of coconut candy. Turtle Island is a place where you can see this. Another local product is snake wine! The base is rice wine that is poured over a snake and left to ferment. Locals believe it has medicinal properties. There is a bee farm on Thoi Son, where you can buy local honey.

Mui Ne is a cape in Phan Thiet city, a famous tourist center of Binh Thuan province. The name Mui Ne comes from fishermen. "Mui" means Cape, is the headland leading to the great sea; "Ne means Dodge, a place to avoid thunderstorms. In 2018, Mui Ne was recognized as a national tourist destination.

Cu Chi Tunnels of Sai Gon are honored in the TOP 7 most adventurous destinations in Southeast Asia and TOP 12 most attractive underground wonders in the globe. The decades-old tunnel complex resembles a sophisticated hidden maze, where visitors can glimpse the turbulent Vietnamese history as if they are traveling back to the wartime.
The Tunnels of Cu Chi, a gigantic underground tunnel system, was originally constructed under the jungle terrain, connecting tunnels among the hamlets and communes during the Indochina war (1945-1954) against the French colonialists. It served as hiding spots for Vietnam revolutionary troops to discreetly commute between regions and evade French scouts.

During the Vietnam war, the network had been expanded into an assembly complex for Communist guerrilla soldiers to house troops, transport communications, and supplies, receive medical treatments, take shelters from aerial bombardment, and mount surprise attacks, after which they could disappear underneath the ground. As a military headquarters, Cu Chi Tunnels played a pivotal role in the Vietnamese forces' resistance to the American army in South Vietnam. It served as an isolated stronghold to plan strategies and launch successful military campaigns, notably the victorious Tết Offensive in 1968.

Throughout the country's turbulent history, these iconic Saigon tunnels witnessed the sufferings in the fierce wars and symbolized the tenacity and resourcefulness of the Vietnamese people.
