The island was named in honor of Soviet astronaut Gherman Titov, who visited Hạ Long Bay in 1962 alongside Hồ Chí Minh.
To commemorate the visit, the island was renamed “Ti Top” — a Vietnamese pronunciation of “Titov.”

Today, Ti Top Island is famous not only for its history, but also for its panoramic viewpoint overlooking the breathtaking bay.
