This Fish Chose Us...

For a few seconds, we followed a Copperband Butterflyfish through the coral reefs of South Phu Quoc. 🌊

Moments like this are why we love snorkeling - you never know what you'll find beneath the surface.

💜 Beautiful. Romantic. Dangerously mesmerizing.
Meet the Flame Jellyfish (Mauve Stinger) — one of the most stunning creatures you can encounter in the waters around Phu Quoc.
Their glowing purple and pink colors look almost unreal, drifting gracefully through the sea like living flames.
⚠️ But admire them from a distance.
Their sting can be painful and may cause skin irritation, so touching them or swimming too close is never a good idea.
Right now is the end of their seasonal appearance around Phu Quoc. While they are considered dangerous, they are not usually life-threatening to healthy adults.
The good news? During most snorkeling trips, I rarely encounter them at all.
🌊 Nature doesn't need to be touched to be appreciated.

You're watching a living Turbinaria peltata coral colony. The tiny waving structures are coral polyps — thousands of animals working together to build the reef.
