Man, I love all these locos. Some for nostalgic reasons and others because they are just pretty. But he would have none of it. I had to choose ONE.

Nope, I was not even allowed categories. One loco…… what would it be? So I made a coffee, wished that I was still smoking so I can think clearly and weighed pros and cons and…….

The balance tilted towards this. There is simply nothing, not even the mighty 7E that can beat it for presence. It is big and low slung. And the prototype is slowly gaining a following. If you have witnessed this thing in real life, it is almost overwhelming.

Extremely powerful locomotive. With an engine that killed off all the opposition in the USA. What amazes me is that they could package all that power in a loco that is under 4m high!

Ok, color me impressed!! I do not easily change a recipe when it works. But I ran out of stock and had to make alternative plans.

I know the well known English brand of decal fix is utter sh*te. Skipped that. Hit the Intrawebs and bought some Ammo decal set and decal fix.

For some reason the decal fix is actually the softener and the decal set is the one you place the decal with. That is very very important to note. I wonder how many people completely destroyed their decals by using it the other way around lol.

Make no mistake, the softener is aggressive. But it leaves no residue around the decal that is hard to remove like the Micro Sol does. Three layers an hour apart and it goes exactly where you want it to go.

The decal set is lovely. It is extremely difficult to stick that yellow long bonnet stripe down. You need to be able to manipulate it quite a bit and my previous GSW decal set allowed for that….. but maybe too much. Once you start rolling the excess out, it tends to be too soapy and the decal would slide. The Ammo one is stickier without being too grippy too quick. It is about as perfect as you can wish for.

Man! I am impressed. It ate into the body like it was painted on. I love this stuff!!!

What do you think? Look the panel-line was still wet in the pics and I am busy blending it as we speak, but it runs cleanly over the decal without spreading. That is a first.

This is all you really need ever. Will hit it with a dull cote tomorrow. That will be the final test.

It’s back this morning and let’s hope it lasts. I am not too optimistic about that. Obviously my work is now way behind. We did cut the trees over the shed’s roof and cleaned it. Which was way overdue.

I need to get two class 34 and a class 33 out within the next two weeks. 😳🥵

Then a bush here and there, splash of grass and viola.

Single 8E…… Tra-la-la… I love these locos. Really do. They are hard to build, indeed, but when they are done, few locos make this kind of statement.
